So, i have about 400miles on a couple months of a Kymco 249cc Grandvista. I do recall one night while driving, the dash lights were lite in the little display in the middle. Since then, they are dark, and i can't find a switch on how to turn them on. Everything else works fine with it - starts, runs good, brake lights, turn lights, headlights all work fine. Is there a fuse or a bad wire somewhere that feeds the light to the digital dash display?
thanks a bunch, sorry newby

There is no switch, unfortunately the backlight uses a very very strange lighting setup. You can find more info on here use the search. Try hitting the gauge unit. Unfortunately this is a weak spot on the grand Vista I have replaced many under warranty.

There is an Electro-Luminescent foil under the LCD display, the foil produces light when an alternative current of 80V at 1000Hz that gets from a built in EL inverter. The built-in inverters tend to fail. So I've managed to bypass and get the dashboard shining again.

Finished dashboard.
