They responded that someone would be responding soon (Monday?).
Never seen a motorcycle dealer open on a Monday, usually Sunday-Monday is their days off.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

What a ball-ache. Good luck with it Karl. (Maybe I should start looking for one for my new(ish) X-Town 300 now?)

Always found phone calls to dealers helpful when hunting stuff for my scooter.
In 2013 I found list of scooter shops selling Kymco stuff and tracked down a set of very HTF crash bars ....from a little shop in Texas😊

Seems readily available in UK. About GB£100 which sounds fair for OEM?

Yes, you should! S'posed to take the same belt according to Polini. But then theirs is a 30° V instead of 28°.

LLJ3- that's the designator for the X-town and it is different: no outside "teeth."

We have discussed this before and I agree dealers rarely take time to answer email's and if they do it may be a week or more later.  This has been my experience anyway.

Having owned a Burgman 400 and reading their forum - I was left with the impression that most 650 owners sold their scooter if the CVT quit.??
Stig

Some of the riders I have read about who had a CVT fail on a Burgman 650 did choose to part the scooter out. The price to have a dealer/shop repair a broken CVT was around $2500 at least and now possibly over $3000. That's totaled territory for insurance purposes. There are a few who are handy with doing their own maintenance and do fix it themselves. This is the only scooter I know of where you have to drop the entire engine out of the frame just to get to the CVT. That's because part of the frame blocks access. A shortcut was found that if you could lift the rear end up high enough (straps or block and tackle) and only drop down the engine a little you could get the CVT off and do the repair. But even DIY would cost around $1200-$1500. Usually if the belt breaks in this CVT it is caused by broken bearing bits or plastic gear bits getting between the belt and pulleys and not the belt actually wearing out. But still, the chance of that failure happening on all model years is less than the rate of new cancer cases in the USA in a year. More so for early models than late models.

This is actually one of the motivators to me to consider the AK 550 to replace mine... much much easier and less pricey CVT maintenance that can be done with the scooter on centerstand. The rest of the maintenance would be similar enough. Now, if only Kymco would resolve the parts availability issue as this thread is mostly about (in stock and at a reasonable price).

Unusual to me that the CVT belt would not have outside "teeth" on it. I know other belts, like the final drive belt on the AK 550, are smooth on the outside but the CVT belts I've seen usually have teeth on both sides. Well, except for the Burgman 650 CVT belt that has metal segments instead of teeth. Learn something new every day.

There is a Malossi belt for the Downtown 300i listed here for $110. Also a couple of more expensive options.

Thanks! I wonder why Malossi shipping is less than 20 bucks US but Mitsuboshi is nearly 50? The term "Available" implies in stock but the shipping screams mail order....

No one from Taiwan wants to ship to Australia (using COVID as an excuse), so I order my parts from Europe: https://www.bike-parts-kymco.uk/.

I got a spare belt for my UXV450i at my local NAPA,  gave em my Kymco #, they cross referenced it, didn't have it in stock, but had it next day from warehouse, at this point, I don't recall if it was an actual NAPA branded belt, or a Gates belt

NAPA! You gave the Kymco part number? Or some other number? I will give that a try! Tried Gates on line but did not work...

to tell you the truth, I don't remember if I gave em the part # or vehicle, make, model, year

my local NAPA has been good at finding odd, or obsolete parts, from some warehouse somewhere that still has NOS,
