Is it worth it

I am about ready to trade my 09 Honda Met with 2.5k mi in along with 2k cash for a 2014 new LIKE 200i LX and curious if this sounds like a pretty good deal or not. I love my metropolitan but it is becoming too slow for me around town.

2,800.00 is MSRP.  Sounds fair. They will sell the Met for 1,300.00 maybe...

Ehhhhhh ummmmmm welllll sort of. Not really.  It's close but the fit, and finish is not really there.

If you plan on a couple of years it's fine. It's not a 7-8 year bike unless you are a handy kind of person.
Just my opinion...

I have a 1971 Honda NC50 that I bought 5 years ago, and have sold thee times. It ALWAYS comes back to me with a clogged up carb or a bad spark plug so I buy it back, and sell it to someone else. Every part on the bike is OEM from the day it was built. No telling how many miles are on it... The ODO numbers are all sun faded from living in Fl. it's whole life.

Where are you OP? There's a local guy here begging to get rid of a like with 700 miles on it for $1500. I bought my 2012 like brand new old stock for $1999.

I have owned both a Metropolitan and a 200i.   The quality of the Kymco isn't even close to that of your Metro.  IMO it would be the same as comparing a Timex to a Rolex.   The Metro (pre 2013) was built in a Japanese plant with high paid workers and over 50 years of two-wheel engineering behind them.   There is probably not a better built scooter than the metro (too slow and too small for me, but the build is first rate).   Others have pointed out on this forum, the Kymco Like is a Chinese scooter with a two year warranty.    I compare the ride of my Like to a 1980's ford Escort.   If you want a zippy scooter with the price of a Like and the quality of your Metro, check out the Buddy 125.

Can't say I've owned a Honda Metropolitan, but I do have a 2011 Like 200.  It just passed 1700 miles without any problems at all.  Will cruise easily at 55 mph but it is done at 59 mph with a 215 pound rider. Bought mine used with 750 miles on it just this past spring for $1,400.  You might want to save your money and buy a used one too even if you have to ship it across the country.  Chicago to West Texas was $500.  I priced a new one out at $3,200 delivered but I couldn't justify spending the extra money. I think you might enjoy the 200 a lot more than the 50-especially if you can get a good price.

Kymco made the Engines for some Honda scooters. I'm not sure they ever made the scooters for them.

http://www.centaurcyclesandscooters.com/Kymco.html  Honda used to have those simple scoots that looked like a bicycle with only the down tube connecting the forks to the center tube, really popular but can't think of the name of them......cub maybe? They were made by Kymco I believe.

Those are the NC 50's. Ive had a 1/2 dozen of them over the years.
You'd have a hard time convincing me it was a Kymco built bike but if it was all spec'ed by Honda it could be possible.

Let's hope this fellow didn't give up a Metropolitan w/2500 miles on it - and $2K for a LIKE200i.
These were selling for $1999 a few weeks ago in several states.
