Race Talk / Gilera GP800 Performance
« on: December 18, 2010, 07:36:44 AM »
From another topic, I decided to open this..

I have spent many many years at the dragstrip racing and watching cars, motorcycles, scooters, 4 wheelers race down the 1/8 and 1/4 mile dragstrip.
A scooter is in a class of its own when it comes to performance.
Todays sportbikes stock off the showroom floor are running in the 1/8 mile under 6.8 seconds and reaching speeds of 117MPH Do the math, its not long before they hitting 60MPH.

Another member posted that the Gilera GP800 will give a motorcycle a run for its money.
The Gilera GP800 is the fastest OEM scooter produced so far.
This is not your typical scooter!

Here are the numbers

Torque @ RPM:   56 lbs/ft@ 5750 RPM
Displacement:   839.3 Cc
Curb Weight:   540 lbs lbs.
0-60 time:   5.7 sec sec.

I will list the cruiser bikes first.
Triumph Rocket = 0-60 mph: 3.54 sec Big Cruiser Big.
Harley Davidson VROD = 4.26
Honda VTX1800 = 4.45
Kawasaki Vulcan = 4.98
Suzuki Blvd M9 = 3.89

Sports Cars
Nissan 370Z 4.9
Camaro SS 4.6
Mustang GT 4.8
Mustang V6 5.3
Cadilac CTS Coupe 6.8
Porshe 911 Turbo 3.2

Sportbikes
Kawasaki zx10r  2.9
Kawasaki zx12r 2.2
Kawasaki zx14 2.5
Suzuki GSXR1000 2.5
Suzuki Hayabusa 2.8

So there ya have it! Think twice before you peddle up on your scoot next to anything besides a 1968 Volkswagon Bug, or you may get lucky and race against someone that doesn't realize you are racing them.

These numbers are fantastic and will run with most of todays sports cars with the 0-60 times. Unfortuntelty it will not beat todays motorcycle stop light to stop light with a rider that KNOWS how to ride.

Todays Motorcycle numbers.

General Discussion / Warning Deer Are On The Move This Time Of Year!!
« on: November 08, 2010, 11:19:30 PM »
This topic is for those that ride there scooters all year round..

Deer season is here, which means deer will be moving across roadways more often for a couple of reasons.

Deer normally travel in the dark when not in there mating season. The mating season has begun due to the days are shorter and this has turned on there inner clock to mate. The mating season usually starts in October, November being its PEAK season and last into the end of December which is known as 2nd rut season.

1) Its mating season for the deer. The male deer will chase other deer out of there territory if there is a female in heat. This will cause the male deer that was ran out of his normal territory to find a new home which may lead him to crossing roads for other woods.
The doe will be chased by the male deer which may lead to them running across the road and NO they dont care if its a highway with a 60,000 lbs 18 wheelers rolling 80mph or you on your lil scooter buzzing along at 35MPH THEY will run out in front of you to get away the male deer chasing.

So becareful ALL times of the day! Doesnt matter when a doe comes in estrus which usually last 36 hours she will attract every male deer downwind and the chase begins.

Warning: If 1 deer runs out in front of you,, chances are more are coming behind in the chase!!

General Discussion / Fast Scooter Videos.
« on: October 20, 2010, 11:36:22 PM »
I read someone here posted "Now thats a fast scooter" about some kid getting 6 tickets on his scooter in one week running 40-45 in a 30mph. this isnt fast to me but more of stupidity. So I thought it would be a "Holy Chit" section by posting some videos of fast scooters here.
Please keep is videos of fast scooters not motorcycles but scooters.
Also notice in this video of how cars just pull out in front of the scooter rider. We all know this happens.

People s200 / Engine Details?
« on: September 19, 2010, 05:08:04 PM »
Hello all Kymco Gurus

I am wanting to purchase the GY6B style long cases in Kymco brand. The GY6B cases have more meat on them compared to the standard GY6 engine cases for bigger bore up to a 66mm piston. If I am understanding correctly the People S200 used this GY6B style case?
Am I correct or does the People S200 use the standard GY6 case?

Thanks for your help.
