General Discussion / Re: Salt worst enemy or harmless?
« on: February 03, 2014, 01:12:21 PM »
The issue is not aluminum per se, but metallurgy... aluminum is just the dominant metal in aluminum alloys... not all aluminum alloys have the same formulation... simple... low quality aluminum alloys performs less than high quality ones... In my experience, salt is not one of my worries when it comes to my aluminum wheels.. it's dog piss...  ;)

hmmm whats all this then about salt??
And HIIIIII thought i would drop by, Wordslinger posted some vids on FB and mentioned the forums so i thought i would say YO BROS!!!
AAnnnnyway bk on topic  ;D
i live in england and i rode my Suzuki Intruder for the most part until it got stupidly dangerous, not sure if theres a difference in salts used there to salts used here.

Not understanding how and why you could fall off is a beginners thing ;D
You'll find out various ways yourself if you keep driving for years...

i meant it as i see loads of bashed up agilitys and a hell of alot of ones that have been written off. i've rode mine for 2 1/2 years now and she dosnt have a scratch on her.

yep then it will come a time that you have to pull apart the engine because the piston and rings have been fried from running mega lean...all in good time. its easy enough to do anyway, me and my fiancee did a complete engine rebuild in 2 hrs 55 mins and that was doing it for the first time. if you do think about rebuilding you will need:-

piston and rings
valve oil seals (check the valves and seats for damage-replace if nessersary) which will mean:-

new cylinder head (one with the valves pre-fitted)

check the cylinder wall for scorch marks and scoring but if you need to replace the piston and rings then you will need a new cylinder to seat the new rings or have the old one re-honed.

and thats about it i think.
slap it together start her up and let her get warm..shut her off..re-torque bolts..start her up again and rag her at WOT to bed the rings in then for the run in just take it easy and slowly over 500 or so miles increase the speed you go at (but if your still restricted that wont apply)

#79!!! jeez you need a bigger jet in there man, your running MEGA lean. you need a #82/84 at least to get her running properly.

go into google and type "139QMB spares" that will bring up everything you need just dont try searching GY6 parts because not all GY6 engines are the same and it can cause alot of problems when it comes to fitment and stuff.

or if you feel like doing some welding work you could just sling a 139QMJ engine in and watch his face when he twists the throttle  :D :D

yea its abit of a arse clencher when that happens. decided to "back 2 black" all the plastics to make her look a little better than what she was. all was good untill the next morning and it had been raining..the front tyre was all over the place.

i think i remember zombie talking about getting rid of the ZX and calling it a day once he got it finished...i might be wrong but i think thats what i remember him saying... he didnt sound very upbeat or enthusiastic and i think he was loosing interest. once again i may be wrong and i seriously hope im wrong.
