Less rollers.... It should sound like a Skill Saw

..i put in the 7 grams that came with the pipe yesterday...that got me up into the 7500 range right after initial take-off...which stalls considerably..

..gonna install a nakaku torque driver and driven pulley along with my stage6 mkII clutch this afternoon...see if i can get rid of that stall...

..running a 98 main jet, and a 40 pilot..having to run the pilot screw @ 4 turns open to reduce sputter at take-off...

..once i'm past that stall, and into the powerband, nina takes off like a rocket! ...runs 60 indicated on even the smallest of hills...

...what??....

../the screw that adjusts the float is to the filter...air screew??

..the smaller screw, toward the reeds, is the fuel??

yes??..no??...

..now how th hell u did that??
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: zombie on March 20, 2012, 12:34:50 AM
Watchu Smokin' Slinger...
The smaller screw is the idle mix screw. The larger controls the slide stop, or Idle speed. Since yours is on the reed side it is a FUEL control screw. As you have it 5 out it shows your Pilot jet is too small. That will cause the rest to run lean.
Go up on the pilot, and try to get the mix screw to 2 1/2 turns. The rest will fall in line.

I blew the drive trying to hit 75 on a long straight along the coast. I got 74 in a tuck, and when I let off the drive never closed. Sort of stays in High gear all the time now. I'll have to ride it in to the shop , and fix it during the rest of the stuff I have to do. This was to show a buyer too. He SAYS he will take it once I replace the drive. (I wouldn't let HIM test it wide open) so I had them clock me on Hwy 98. I HOPE This is the last of it! New Ape here I come...

...im already up to a 42 pilot jet...

..reckon that aint even enough??..technigas NEXT pipe and malossi air filter installed..

..was under impression that pilot was excessive big already..no??

..this is my fuel mix screw even now...
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: zombie on March 20, 2012, 12:45:12 AM
That screw controls how much fuel is drawn thru the jet. You do need to go bigger. I had a 47 pilot in the Malossi kit that I still had to ream out.
The air filter is mostly the reason. There is LESS vacuum on the jet so it needs to be larger to flow right.
Every size up will close the screw about 1 turn so try around 45
Title: Re: sister-sister

I just looked again at the carb. I fixed one today on a child size 50cc quad. The OEM jet in it is a 40, and it ran well at 1 1/2 turns out. This one had an adjustable needle on the main but same carb. (with a screw on cap)?
Title: Re: sister-sister

...screw on cap..and oem pilot was a 35...
Title: Re: sister-sister

The cc's don't matter this time. It is in the flow in vs flow out. You improved the breathing so you have to improve the drinking... SPEAKING of which.

It's got 45,000 on it so It don't owe me anything. I don't know exactly what/why happened yet. Just have no lower gears. Pretty sure its the td

Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: zombie on March 20, 2012, 12:58:18 AM
Raising the needle will compensate some but not much for the idle circuit. The idle must be right to get the rest. The larger idle jet will allow that extra fuel in with the main charge. If it is too small it throws off the rest

Is that the OEM 17mm? I have a Delortto 19 that I use to test engines. You wanna try it to see if that improves your set up? You may be at the limit of the 17mm

Surrounded by quitters. Take any bigger carb, and replace that one. You can cut off the bolt mount and grind it (intake manifold)for a rubber coupling so fitting any old carb is easy. That's your problem. SCUBA with a straw.

Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: zombie on March 21, 2012, 01:41:06 AM
Trust me... You'll F' it up trying it that way. Go back to the air box but tweak it up (airbox), and your carb will be fine to 55mph-ish. If you want more speed you have to modify the intake, and carb to work with an open type filter. Trust me!

Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: zombie on March 21, 2012, 01:53:28 AM
The carb is toooooooo smmmmmaaaaaallllllll!
Imagine your engine trying to suck air thru a straw... That's why. The intake works fine up to 20mm but suffers after that. You could get 65 with the stock intake (modified), and a 19-20mm carb/open filter.
Your 16mm gets more efficient vacuum WITH the air box but cant supply enough mix to hit more power. More mix = more power.

..i swear, with a lil practice, that front wheel gonna hang in the air when i want it to...

Can you list what you did to ur stock scoot to hit 60? I do 50 at 9,000rpm right now, would love to pull another 10mph out of her. I have a 2002 S9 LC, unrestricted. Thanks!

OK, thanks. So the oem roller weights in the scoot now are 8.5? Cant find that 743 belt on that site either.... I'll keep looking. Do i need to replace clutch springs also? Sorry soo many questions, never worked on a cvt tranny before.  I also need a new air filter..... any recommendation(stay with stock box, or cone, k&n)? Thanks again.
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: wordslinger on March 22, 2012, 11:03:46 PM
..i'd stay with the stock airbox...unless you want to get into a bunch of head-aches..these s9s gotta good strong engine without screwing around with the air..

..stadiumyamaha.com for oem parts..

..i got that belt from scootertronics.com  ....i've had some good and very bad experiences there..should be alright just getting the belt, tho...

..you can roll fine with oem clutch springs ,they effect take-off timing mostly.. but i do suggest getting a 1500 main counter-balance spring..some call it a contra..torque spring..

..and for you to comfortably get top end speed, you MUST HAVE a unrestricted set of driven pulleys..cant really run the 743-20-30 belt with restricted pulleys..it'll cause the belt to over-ride the variator and drive face...

..and dude..dont sweat the questions......it's why we all here..we all have so many to ask...

 ;)

..actually, on my scoots...the crank nut secures a flat-washer..to the kick-start gear..which does hold the fan...by means of the extensions...but that splined fan holder tightens up nicely against the drive face.....

Does our scoots come with 8.5 gram roller weights? Or should I upgrade? Just wanna do 60+ at 9k rpm or less on a stock unrestricted scoot....
.....

..60+ downhill can happen pretty easily...

..you might be content with 50 on the flats and up slight hills??

..every scoot tunes different
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: Rage on March 24, 2012, 03:01:14 AM
I already do 50 on flats..... well 48-51 anyway. Just wanted to squeeze 10mph while staying around 9000 rpm  without a major overhaul.
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: wordslinger on March 24, 2012, 12:39:27 PM
..bertha will usually average 52 or more on flats..

..rarely drops much below 50..even uphill...

..i've seen 65 downhill with the oem rollers...@ 9500

..don't think the 7.5 sliders are going to get that tho..

...good possibility...again, every scoot is different...

..but if you're already doing 50 with restricted pulleys, i'd think it'll be no problem!!

Your drive face is slipping while the fan is spinning with the crank. Try hitting the end of the boss, and the area of the face that contacts the boss with a piece of 60 grit sand paper. Just enough to create rough surfaces to "grab". A dab of green lok Tite on the mating surface may help too.
Crazy that they spline the fan, and NOT the drive face.
Try the ZX face. It is splined. No need for the fan then either.

I agree with Slinger on the Avons. Mine Never slipped. So far the Pirellis are good but I do see more wear on the rear Already. It's maybe 2 months old? It could be an alignment problem from Xtending it do I'm rebuilding the kit I made a bit better.

The K61 is the "Racer" type tire.  They make lots of different ones with various tread patterns.  I hate to hear that it slipped on you.  I use 'em on my scooters and love 'em to death - better than Michilen or Pirelli.  I haven't ridden in the rain lately though.

By the way, I found the original head for that cylinder when I was getting some parts out of my truck.  Want me to drop it in the mail someday?

I hate to hear that it slipped on you.

..yeah, once was on a new sheets store parking lot...

..i chalked that up to new concrete finish, but the second was on th road, just after a good rain...

..just looking at the two tire pics, the avon has more corner tread...might be the key to that...

..heyy yeah!..drop it in!!..btw, do you remember th s9 running kinda hot?...water pump gets pretty hot to touch, even after say, 5 miles...

...my other nine runs much cooler...
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: zombie on April 08, 2012, 11:33:52 PM
Check for a bad thermostat/kinked hose/clogged radiator. If the pump is hot it usually means a restriction. Bad pump bearings will do it to
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: wordslinger on April 08, 2012, 11:41:14 PM
..well, i removed the thermostat, and, while doing so, saw that i got flow thru everything...

...filled the radiator, then started engine...used another cup of coolant after starting...

..josh rebuilt this pump not long ago, when he built th scoot...so i'm sure it's got flow...

..i can fill fluid flowing when i squeeze the hose going into the top of the radiator...
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: zombie on April 08, 2012, 11:46:28 PM
Is the cylinder base about the same temp. as the pump housing? It may just be the scoot.
If the pump is hotter you may still have a bad bearing. I don't think they are lubed. Maybe a sealed bearing would be best?
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: wordslinger on April 08, 2012, 11:50:08 PM
...yeah, its all about the same...just way hotter than my 50cc...maybe its because itsa 70?...

Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: zombie on April 08, 2012, 11:53:35 PM
That would be MY guess. More mass = more friction. That's a new top end?
Maybe a couple old computer type fans on the back of the radiator pulling air...

Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: zombie on April 09, 2012, 12:08:03 AM
Maybe air trapped in the top of the Jug? Maybe just one size too lean? After break in they will rev free needing more fuel. If it's mainly the pump tho I would think bearing.

Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: Areomyst on April 09, 2012, 02:36:50 AM
You can drop down to a BR9HS plug.  It is going to be hotter, because the Prima cylinder uses pretty much the same size water jacket as the 50cc cylinder, with a bore that's bigger.  Also the high compression ratio makes it run warmer.  You could swap the cylinder heads (not the whole cylinder, just the head) and you'll probably notice cooler running.

Can't be as bad as the Rotax engine in a Scarabeo 150 that I have in at the moment... got so hot it melted the dipstick, water pump impeller, and even started working on the timing chain guides.  Heh.

Are you guys talking about adding a wc head?    Sooo many questions... Soooo little time.

Bertha is already W.C.  ;)
that one has a bbk with a modded/bored oem head
OEM pipe....carb

Speaking of which... I found a Naraku bbk cheap but w/o the head... i wondered how that would work out using a regular W.C oem head..(that would get my s9 back up  ;), still no word from Rage on the bbk he was selling........sobbing.. :'()
I know Shaka had the oem head on his zx at one time, of course it's A.C
Title: Re: sister-sister

The only issue is using an ac head you have to use a plate to seal the wc jug.
Or I guess you mean an ac S9!

I did...that was the first Airsal BBK I had on the ZX.  The domed piston with that kit is machined flat around the edge so the piston doesn't hit the oem head at TDC.  It worked great after I made the base spacer to give me the correct durations/squish.

Na, Bertha is L.C..
She had a oem l.c head, bored out to 47mm combustion chamber from the oem 39.

Mine WAS L.C. :D
Poor thing dead beside the z.  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(
I found a oem l.c head in canada(1/2 $ from new) and that Naraku kit would fix mine. Wouldn't be a malossi kit. :'(  :-\ But she'd run again.  ;)

YES. It actually takes up room in the jets that fuel should be going thru. It Dilutes the fuel as it were. Jetting IS dependent on fuel/oil ratio. Change the ratio, and you need to re jet...

There apparently is an issue with the S9 cdi's where it hits a wall at the same rpm's that most pipes require. There is some discussion right now on Scoot Inv about it. It's a thread called ?? cdi. I'd tune into that one. You may never be able to get it right with an OEM cdi. I think J has found a Mina cdi that works better. It's all in the on going thread.

Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: zombie on May 12, 2012, 04:46:54 AM
I've got some CRAZY learning curve happing right now. Just like back in the day when I compared a string on a spoon to a pencil on on the same string. The CVT is opening it's doors to me. Without getting all nuts on the topic... The belt wear is a symptom of an imbalance of HP/Torque vs load on the rear wheel. Just like tuning a STOCK scoot for better Perf. WE have to find the magic ratio of HP/rpm/mph/realistic belt capacity. I'm thinking this forum has opened a door that even the TOP tuners don't see. Belt wear CAN be eliminated. (crazy right) We are tuning to a point where more HP = more stress. I think it should be the other way around. More HP = better better belt wear, (right)!
Soooo Making CRAZY high gears makes less rpms. Less rpm's makes less stress, and more usable top end. So using taller gears will allow the engine to rev slower, and reduce the belt wear. Sorta like a Salt flats bike that is geared to 200+mph. and can't do a wheelie to save it's life. Scoots are like a dirt bike in reverse. I rode MX ALL my life, and pulling power was king. I have hit a wall with pulling power in scoots. They need to be reversed. NO PULLING POWER IS NEEDED. Make them TOP GEAR machines. This may take machining gears we don't  have yet but I do know a few guys that can make the gears we need. F*ck Polinni, and Malossi, and Every other maker of "race parts". I think if enough time is spent away from the "cookie cutter" parts makers a new door will open. I am aiming for a 6.7:1 final drive with the Polini Corsa. That is another "cookie cutter" bike. I don't like the idea any more than buying a Ruima on Ebay. It's the SAME OLD sh**! But Maybe with a 2.5:1 ratio and a Bando belt hooked up to a pulley drive there may be a 100mph scoot in the near future.
I know this did NOT answer your question/statement about your belt wear but it might open another door that will. I blew thru 3 Vars/4-5belts on the Ruima. It did not impress me as a World class scoot although it may well have been. I got the Polinni Corsa R jug today, and it is a tiny POS in MY opinion. Nothing better than th Malossi as far as size. The Port timing is of course different, as is the angle of the port roofs but the cc's are the same, and the quality of the delivered product is similar.
Bottom line is I believe the WHOLE key is in CVT tuning more so than jug kits.
I'm setting the jug on a standard stroke crank/Jassil var/Naraku TD-clutch/Malossi bell. The final drive is 6.8:1 with the gears I have, It should do 70ish air cooled, but for how long? I'm thinking 80+ with some custrom geras, and a TRUE 65criuse. We'll see.
To answer your post... The torque/contra/roller weight is eating your belt.

..well, i put a new gates 729-17.5-28 in nina th day before yesterday, with an oem drive face...after all them trials and tribulations..

..that, "narrow" gates belt, with the 1.504" boss that i was running with the 743, well that just wasnt working...

..over-revved past my powerband during take-off acceleration, and half-way thru to top speed...lost torque..

..put inna 1.465 boss, and when this belt seats in, i believe nina's right back on track...

..ffeeellls real good right now, and only 2mph off top speeds...still got good torque throughout...

...i like torque..i like being able to back off throttle, from any speed or throttle position, then get back onnit, and feel acceleration...

..what's that telling me??

Carrabelle Blow Out!!! Nice ring to that! You just might want to bring two scoots... Just to keep the Law guessing. I paint/change themes/change boddies all the tyime. People hear think I have hundreds of scoots. It's really just 2 with 3 different engines, and 3 different bodies.
Just mix them up, and keep people guessing.

I'd swap out the weights inside the rollers. I have a ton of cores from all weights. You can even drill some out of your 5.7's. You could add epoxy inside the light ones too. That's easier to drill back out too.

...i never tried it on nina, but i love it on the 70cc...

..the adjustments of the MKII are incremental, and i always use calipers for getting the 3 flys equally balanced...

..the malossi, which must be dis-assembled for adjustment, is more forgiving, in the sense that it has pre-set adjustments...

So with the two sets of included springs you get a very wide range of tuning options?  Is there any need to get more spring sets?
I like my clutch to come in almost off idle. I'm going for top end speed more than quick take off. I almost don't need a clutch.

The WC ZX engine in the Vruk frame build. I figure I would set it up in the stroke Corsa engine first to try it out.
I am considering welding the bell to an old oem clutch for the corsa after that. If I get 90... You Know I Have to get 100. The Malossi is a great clutch but I want NEW stuff for all the new builds.

That's what I found in the Malossi. Some settings you couldn't tell a difference. That's the main reason for trying something different. I have the ZX plans done. The WC kit on the way, and like I said it's going in the Vruk frame for a daily around town driver/wheelie popper, and we are going to Tampa Saturday to scope out a 2010 SR Factory leftover selling for 2,200.00. That will be just to get me to town, and back.
I've been Emailing Allen Spears from motor scooter international land speed federation, about registering the ZX for qualifications. If I can get the bike qualified, and documented... It will help get the value up to what I put into it. If I get two certified radar runs above 90mph I'm in. That's why the airfield/local cops are involved.

..with a warmed-up, hard throttle take-off, nina jumps at 8000  for about 1 second, then launches at 9200...

..maintains 9200 on a flat ground run up to 50 indicated...

..she will peg the speedo, and i mean peg against the side of the instrument panel @ 9800 on a downhill...

So word,

Are you still running this set up?  Well with the exception of the belt change?  I am looking to do much the same mods.  You think the neddle mod was a must do? Did it change the mid a noticably?

I'd like to find a bargain on a pipe?  Retired and need spend wisely if I want to get the ouput I am happy with.

Sounds like your set up is pretty good with the stock carb.

You think with the stock air box modded I'd be able to get close to your setup?

Keep up the awesome thread.

Arthur

You think the neddle mod was a must do? Did it change the mid a noticably?

..the needle mod is pretty much a necessity if you run a free-flow air filter and a pipe....

..i'm down to a 120 main jet from this setup..

..still running a 732-18.5-28 belt, and it's a Gates, just not a gates BOOST...with the boost, i actually went to 6.5 Dr pulleys...

..Now, with the regular Gates, i'm going to go back to the 6 gram...

..itsa fine line between dropping in and out of the powerband...

..main thing you probably need to do is check your driven pulleys, and see if they are restricted (bet they are) and replace them if so...

..that's easily 10 mph increase

Title: Re: sister-sister

Well I have the Naraku vari, 1500 contra spring and clutch spring set on order. (Boss included)
Have stock driven pulleys and clutch on the 03.

The Naraku pulley set is out of stock so I check the A 50 set at the local dealer runs about the same price as the Naraku.  Not sure which way to go wait for the Naraku or buy the a50 23010-LDC8-C10. advice?

6.5 and 7.5 generic rollers plus the 8.5 stock and the 8 that comes with the vari.

Also the Naraku filter element for the stock box.  No pipe at this point.

With that setup what jet range should I try? What roller and clutch spring rate should I try first?

Thanks
Arthur

Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: Super9r on December 12, 2012, 12:47:19 AM
So by your vari thread I take it you would go for the malossi over the Naraku I ordered?  I just initially want a little more umph and topend.  Of course a pipe will get ordered too.  I'd like one on the "quieter" side of tuned pipes.
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: wordslinger on December 12, 2012, 12:14:07 PM
I wore the Naraku var out in no time...Malossi is best variator upgrade i've ever ran...and i've tried a lot of different ones...

...also wore out the Naraku torque driver...it's hard to beat OEM parts...

..There's no need to change jets, unless you install a free-flow air filter or a pipe...OEM main jet should be an 82, and i wouldn't advise putting in that 92..

..as far as rollers and springs, every scoot is different, but the idea is to get initial take-off rpms at or a little above your powerband...which should be @ 7500-8200 on a oem setup..

..then just hold that rpm until you approach top speed....let the cvt do all the work!!
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: Super9r on December 12, 2012, 06:23:45 PM
The 92 jet is listed as the oem unrestricted jet in the service manual.  78 is listed as the speed restricted size.  I'll try the 92 tomorrow when the wifey is at work today is her only day off sooooooo.

Once I get the order and try the stuff out hopefully I'll learn to tune a cvt....more so how not to ore so...lol.

The A50 full pulley assy does come with the derestricted pulleys right?

Thanks for the reply.

Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: wordslinger on December 12, 2012, 06:56:17 PM
..well, I bough a complete clutch assembly..a50, and yes it did have correct pulleys ..someone else here bought just pulleys, and the non moving pulley half was from a restricted set....

...that's big jump in jet size without increasing air flow....my 2004 had a 82 main, and the AC super nines generally have a 75 main...

..look at your plug...it should be a nice, dry, brown kinda caramel color...

..in fact, i would put in a new NGK BR8HS plug and ride it a few miles, then look at it..(sorta like plug chop)....
Title: Re: sister-sister

Yeah i am going to change it and take a look at the plug.  Autozone only had the br8hs I have it and a br8hsa coming in from another store tomorrow.

First I was going to look at the used plug ride it and compare.  It is after all going to be richer so no harm should come of it right?.... Famous last words.

Is there a stock airbox restriction?  I am pulling off the exhaust to check it tomorrow too if all goes as planned.

Have you done a gps speed on nina?  Is your speedo way off?  Mine shows 50 when my phone GPS shows 42.

I do like the blue color of your scoots too.  But think I'll keep mine black and red.  Might do the back left and right body panels in matte black.  When I order a replacement for the scratched left side I'll sand and paint it to see how I like i matte black compared to red.  The red is really nice and can be seen well from the side.

...i've not found any airbox restrictions on any of the s9 that ive seen..

..dont bother with exhaust...it aint restricted...

..ive ran both those plugs...seems the "A" might have ran better in nina oem....hmmmm...

..richer wont harm much of anything, .long as you got a fresh plug with y' to put in if it fouls...lol..

..does tend to build carbon over longer periods of time, which is not desirable....

..i gpsd nina a while back, and she was 6 mph optimistic  @ 40...

..at 55 mph indicated, she gpsd 50...

..i have not had a chance to check since she's pegging the needle...

What do you all think about to 1/4 turn out on the low jet?

I though maybe bleed by from the choke circuit.  I didn't see the mark on the jet so it could have been upsized.  Come to think of it it idle pretty much the same with the filter box open.  Hmmm. Maybe I will need to check that out.

Title: Re: sister-sister

Better late than never  ;D

I did upsize the rear. Had a over-sized Shinko on the rear. Wore out a little premature if you ask me. Now I have an over-sized Michelin. I'm happy with both the Michelin and the Avon.

I also put a set of Avons on the ZX too. Slightly oversized I think. sh**... it's been a couple months. Man what a difference though! I love the way that thing rides. So smooth.

I've been riding the ZX a lot lately. I took the people to the beach a couple months ago. Long story short, I added oil to my gas can but forgot to add gas  :-[. Luckily I realized it after about a mile of riding. Don't think I did any damage but after I drained the tank and put it all back together it didn't run right. So basically, I've been really lazy and just riding the ZX around. It's too damn hot to go out and work on the people  8). I think the float is hangin up or some dumb sh** like that. I'll get it goin again before school starts.

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I don't know why I never saw this.

I love the Avon's u guys recommended ..... what are the benefits of an oversized rear tire? Too speed, I'm assuming handling?
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: Peters on July 19, 2013, 12:37:29 AM
No gain in top speed. If anything you probably lose acceleration due to the extra tire weight. Nothing noticeable. I like over-sized tires because I think they just feel much more stable. Better handling too.

time foe a new belt..... was gonna change the clutch springs while in there. For a stock unrestricted setup, with the exception of a Contra spring, what would u recommend? Also gonna throw in 6.5rollers too. Currently at 8's.

What are your thoughts on kevlar belts? I just noticed that my drive face is also worn badly... a noticeable smooth groove. Is there a performance aftermarket anyone would recommended? Thanks guys.
Title: Re: sister-sister
Post by: Peters on July 23, 2013, 06:21:42 PM
I'm running a kevlar belt right now and I've had no problems. However I did find out afterwards that kevlar belts wear cvt parts more and it's a nightmare if they do break. Bando makes the OEM belts and people say they are the best. If you can find an OEM belt in your size get it. I replaced my OEM belt at about 12,000km and it is still usable as a backup. I've heard of them going 15 or 20k before being replaced.

Aluminum drive faces are NOT what they are cracked up to be...

Slinger! I love this thread.

I am planing on getting the Airsal 70cc kit for my LC. Not sure which pipe yet though.

If I get a new "de-restricted" torque driver, will that "de-restrict" my clutch, or do I need the entire assembly?

Also, I got a hold of a used carb off a Madass 125 and believe it will work but I'm not sure what size it is. 22mm?
Might be too big?

Thanks

Alex

I got ahold of a stock Kymco clutch. Not sure what it is from, only that it is a 2005 in decent shape. This one has the relief in the torque driver cover so I can use the NCY driver! Just waiting on my 2000rpm clutch springs to come in.

..I guess what I'm trying to really say is, a derestricted S9lc will wear lower-priced aftermarket parts in pretty short order..and not all a/m parts fit perfectly...might look good standing still, yet not have the range of motion capabilities at higher speeds and torque...

..you need to get proven parts for your S9...or you'll be missing out....

And a side-by-side comparison:

Still confused. Did they do this for compression reasons? Just doesn't look right. I will see if I can try and find a plug that will fit I guess.

Figured it out. Had my friend in Madrid call them to confirm. The kit needs a plug with 19mm length threads. In this case NGK BR9ES. Would have been nice if they would have included this info with the kit. But for  any one that comes across this in the future, that is the plug you need. I would do what I did just to be sure and screw the stock plug in the new head.

Thanks for the help all.
