SQUEAKING ON THE DOWNTOWN?
« on: October 07, 2016, 11:40:05 AM »
I notice at times my bike squeaks like when I jump up and down on the seat it will squeak a fair bit.  What to do to solve this?  Grease shocks or?
THANKS! :)

Yeah, mine does that too, but I can't hear it with the engine running so it's ok :-)

To be honest, most of the bikes I've owned do this - and my one year old car does it too if you push up and down on the front wing, so it's probably not worth tearing anything apart to fix. Just make sure there is no play in the wheel bearings etc.

Both of my scooters do the same thing. I can' t hear it when I am riding and I figure if I try to fix it, I will probably break something. It doesn't hurt anything. So I don't worry about it.  ;)

I hear it when my front wheel moves. I’ve just had the tires replaced and my mechanic never mentioned it. It’s a little annoying, but I’m not terrible concerned over it.

Nireen,

Have you tried tennis. Or maybe scrap-booking?
There are other hobbies.
If the neighbors see you out there merrily bouncing on your scooter seat there could be trouble.

Well my downtown does look (and sound AND vibrate) a bit like a washing machine on a spin cycle, so I can see the attraction.

My scooter does this, in my case it's the center stand. You can try a spray lubricant on the pivot point.

I haven't found a permanent fix for it though. Tried many different kinds of lubricants (WD-40, liquid wrench spray lubricant, lithium grease, engine oil, dupont chain lubricant) with or without disassembly, it always comes back. They all seem to work equally (not) well.
