Had the same thing happen to me a few years ago on a new front tire.

I had the same when I purchased mine last year. They said unless they were sure to sell 10 they would not bring them in. Got mine in England. Guess they have no problem selling 10 or more there. :)

Downtown 300 / Re: Belt woes

I respectfully disagree. I did ask and I was told it would take a week which was better than the six other shops, they had no clue how long. I also don't keep on hand a spare set of spark plugs, tires, filters or brake pads. A belt is a common replacement item, just like those. This isn't my fist scooter, and I didn't have any problems getting replacement parts for my Yamaha, including belts. I'll own the problem of going without a belt for a week, but when it takes at least a month, and none of the places I called had them, that is a distribution/factory problem.
How many DT300I's in your area? There is one, mine in my area so no one carries any parts for it. I stock a spare belt and tools under the seat to replace it. I stock a set of tires in my shed as I had the same problem as you with tires. I was down for a month waiting for the tires I like to use. I stock spare brakes as well. Also CAA for trips incase I can't fix it along the road on a trip. I travel with mine.

Hey, has anyone incorporated a tunnel bag on the Downtown? I'm thinking this could be very useful. Wondering which size & brand fits the best. Ideas???
I use a Givi on mine, works fine. I am not home so can not do pictures till i get home in a couple of weeks.

I'm having trouble getting my bike started when the motor is hot.  It tries to turn over but won't stay started.  Of course, it's on the side kickstand at the time and I can't rev the engine at all.

It should not start or run with the side stand down. It is a safety feature. Either use the center stand or sit on it with no stand to start.

Downtown 300 / Re: Rear Brake Light Switch
« on: June 23, 2013, 07:48:26 PM »
There is one philips screw on the bottom of the master cylinder which holds the micro switch in place. My manual shows removing and emptying the master cylinder to do this. I would just unplug the switch and test for no connection with the brake handle released and a short between the contacts when the handle is pulled. You may have a problem some place else.

Be careful of the wiring to the turn signals. it should be no problem popping the cover off after you remove the screws. If I remember properly the switch is a micro switch. I will check the service manual and get back.

And I am only 1 year behind you Crossbolt. I rode mine from Saskatoon to Ottawa last summer. Great trip, wish I could get mine out of the shed!

Not sure there, it is 500cc here in Sask. Canada. There is hardly any difference between my 125 and my 300.

Not in the same price range but I used this on my trip last summer.
Kaoko Throttle Lock Cruise Control (Kymco Xciting 500/I). I modified it for my DT300I.

Got caught here. Another 6 inches of snow. Can't even get it to the shed to put away for the winter. Last year I rode into November. :'(
