I cut the old muffler off below the weld to the head pipe, then gound it back leaving some of the original weld with 2 inches of pipe below it. Then I clamped the new muffler on and sprayed the whole exhaust with 2000 degree header paint. I then fabed up a hanger from some exhaust strapping and a strip of hightemp gasket material. I wrapped it around and bolted it to the back lower exhaust mounting bolt hole. its easy enough to do with a few basic tools and an angle grinder. You could weld it on instead of clamping but it is secure enough.
