People GT 300i / Re: Just bought a new 2013

Congrats. You stole it! I paid $4700.00 for my 2012 in Silver. I can't see selling mine for @ least the next 5 years (or longer) It's a perfect balance between weight & power, yet it's still fairly nimble. I don't put a lot of miles on my GT300i, but I have a blast when I take her out. Nice job.

The fit & finish is outstanding on the models that are made in Taiwan.

General Discussion / Re: Do you turn off scooter w/kill switch??
« on: June 05, 2016, 04:39:12 PM »
The only time I turn off the kill switch, is when I accidently hit it when washing the scooter.

I did the same thing a couple of years back. I couldn't understand why my GT300i wouldn't start! Goes to show you how often I use it (never)

I figured you had the situation well in hand...but wanted to hear more about this big scoot - aside from possible troubles. ...there are too many of them out there without problems@
Also....i've seen where you live. You should be ashamed.
Scooters....boats....N.E. coastline. ..!!
I.do not think it gets a whole lot better than that!@!
But I'm sure you appreciate it all.

Stig: You're too funny & observant. I've owned 4 Kymco's & hopefully she won't give us trouble. Live could be worse that's for sure. I love Cape Ann, only if we could squeeze another 6 weeks of summer (that's my only gripe) I took her for a 15 mile spin yesterday. She rides BIG! I prefer my GT300i to be honest. Something about sitting upright & those 16" tires.

WKReps. It's FI.

Thanks everyone! Stig....I spoke with the seller & I mentioned the "cold start" issue (I was aware of that) It's not a problem for him. I know this guy & he works for my wife. If he had any issues, I'm sure he would mention them to us. We'll put maybe 1500 miles a year on our scoots. We're are boaters & that comes 1st. It just a toy to cruise around every now & again. Hope we have luck with her.

Xciting 500 / My wife just bought a 2009 Xciting 500

Hi All: I own a Kymco GT300i. My wife picked-up a 2009 Xciting 500. It has 8K on her & she bought it for $2300.00 He installed a new battery, belt & rear tire. It has a couple of superficial scrapes (wasn't dumped) I think I can get most of them out with light compound/wax. It's White with a Shad 45L trunk w/ backrest. Pretty sweet deal. The upside is the guy works for my wife @ her their work. Now we can cruise together! I'm pleased.

Boo: A few years back, Piaggio was plagued with QC issues & parts availability. Not so anymore. I had a chance to purchase a new leftover 2014/15 BV350 (Silver with a Burgundy seat/accents) for $4600.00 OTD. I was close to pulling the trigger. But I thought about it. My GT300i was paid for & the dealer was simply too far away. I'm happy with my GT300i. Did a little work to it & it starts-up every Spring (I live in New England) on the 1st try. Still have the original OEM battery from 2012. I use a Deltran Battery Tender Jr. on a float charge all of the time. In the Winter I keep in wrapped-up in two covers. Own a home, but no garage.

I agree Boo. I like mine well enough. If I had a Piaggio dealer within my home (45 miles away) I would have purchased the BV350 myself. $5400.00 is too much of a retail price.

I noticed this on FB yesterday. $5399.00 to $4899.00 I guess Kymco wants some marketshare back.

Boo: I live in Gloucester, MA. It will be 70 here today, but we're on the coast, so it will be much colder. I might take her for a quick 10 mile spin today.

General Discussion / Re: 2015 Kymco Super 8 150R/150X/50R/50X !
« on: January 15, 2016, 06:29:11 PM »
I think Kymco really got cheap with the Super 8 150cc. I owned a 2013 model & it was pretty nice overall. Then again, it wasn't perfect. Had to have some plastics replaced as there was factory over sprayed paint on two panels.

I don't mind if it's made in China, but the QC is fair vs. Taiwan IMHO. My newest scooter (Honda PCX 150) is made in Vietnam. The QC is as if it was made in Japan. My GT300i is flawless as it's made in the Kymco Taiwanese factory.

IMHO is slipping here in the US myself. I think the best deal is the Like 200 @ $2699.99 Too bad I hate that Vespa knockoff look. Plus it's made for a smaller person.

People GT 300i / Re: love the scoot - hate the seat
« on: January 06, 2016, 01:55:58 PM »
Most Kymco seats suck for comfort. I own a 2012 GT300i & had to have it modified with memory/gel combination using the original skin. Night/Day difference. I dealt with it for a year & had enough. for $150.00 it's so worth the price. You can also consider a Airhawk seat cushion.

I have owned HJC, which is an excellent helmet for the money. I switched over to Scorpion. I LOVE their half-helmet with the pull down smoke visor. I have the older EXO 200 & now it's replacement the EVO C-110. Can be found for around $90.00 online.

General Discussion / Re: Deltran Battery Tender Jr ?
« on: October 30, 2015, 12:47:52 PM »
The Deltran Battery Tender Jr. will charge most batteries (including trucks, cars etc.) I will just take longer to get there. The "Battery Tender Plus" has twice the charging capability. I use this on my wife's VW EOS convertible in the Winter. I use the Tender Jr. for my scooters.

Boo. Amen to your post! We should ALL know what dealer did the work (or lack of) on the GT300i. Love my scooter, but won't give Kymco the business again unless they get their act together.
