Quad Lock mounts for a Scooter
« on: August 19, 2022, 08:40:54 AM »
Here’s a question for the more tech savvy on here. I’m researching a Quad Lock* mount for my X-Town 300 and can’t decide which route to go. Easy for my Triumph as there’s an exposed handlebar to clamp to, but as you’ll know, the X-Town had its handlebars shrouded in plastic and the mirror stem is also not exposed 🙁

Any personal experiences or suggestions welcomed.

I’m leaning towards this https://www.quadlockcase.com/collections/shop-mounts/products/bike-mount?variant=179963062 but would like to avoid unsightly zip ties!

Update: After a further look at the mirror stem, I’m going to try the mirror mount for this device as it should clamp around the rubber casing on the stem OK. See https://www.quadlockcase.co.uk/collections/shop-mounts/products/mirror-mount-motorcycle-scooter?variant=38928185810

I’ll let you know in a few days how it’s gone.

I recently changed out the Ram XGrips on the SYM to Quadlock.
Since I had existing Ram mirror base mounts and arms I just picked up the appropriate cases, & their ram mount with the anti vibration piece.
So in order bottom to top (cuz I'm too lazy to get a pic)

I was looking for a way to mount my GPS. I believe this is called Cockpit GPS mounting bracket. I can't remember where I bought it, but it works great. It's like a mini handlebar, and mounts with the windshield attaching bolts. It fits nicely under the windshield, and even says Kymco on it.

To a point yes of course, but it also gives a better position than just the mirror mount.
Additionally SWMBO found that the arm makes a dandy handle and stand for the phone.

Not sure what brought this to mind....
10 years ago when I mentioned that I was going to install a tachometer on my LIKE200i the old hands told me not to do it. "taking your eyes off of the road will get you killed!"
,...........................................................................

Never suffered from the fear of not knowing where I was.
But, early days yet....🙃

Don’t worry on that score Stig. It’s only for that very rare (like last weeks jaunt to Yorkshire) occasions when quick access to a SatNav app would be handy. I never take calls or listen to music when riding!

Thanks so much for that Mike.  Order placed today  -  eMail reply by return to say item despatched!!

Update:  And such a good job I did, as I road tested the mirror mount today and got way too much shake on it - thanks no doubt to the X-Town's rubber mirror stem shroud!  Bar mount for GPS bracket will be ordered next week.  Time to see how good the Quad Lock after sales service is?
