General Discussion / Re: Did a Top Speed run this morning

My Lambretta Uno 150cc would run a indicated 65 mph but actual speed was 59 mph the Kymco 150 was about the same.

If/ when I'm able to ride again the Honda X-ADV350 would be on the short list. I like the Kymco as well. At this time I will probably go with a Side x Side with power steering, A/C and heater that I could take the Collies with me.

Well that was a number I wasn't expecting!  6+ months before they expect to get one!  Had a long chat with Karl the Sales guy and Roger the owner during which they admitted that after a 50+ year relationship with Honda they're ready to throw in the towel.  Seems they can't get anywhere near the numbers of machines they are ordering so today when I visited, the showroom was stuffed with (readily available) Royal Enfields, Benellis, Sym and Royal Alloy machines.  Have Honda lost the plot?  Shame because I really liked the look and specs on the X-ADV.

So where do I go now?  Probably back to the Kymco dealer who advised "next day delivery" for a DTX 360!  Watch this space.
At this point who ever has a scooter in stock. DAN'S Cycle is having a difficult time getting inventory and long waits on parts.  If it hadn't been for my large collection he wouldn't have had much inventory to sell.

All my scooters have sold with the exception of the 3 in parts in my garage. I still have 3 BMW'S  on consignment with him for a premium price. My Majesty sold for double suggested NADA.

When visiting a wealth aunt in Dallas my Dodge Colt became blocked in by her visiting friends.  I wanted to visit friends in the area so my aunt let me take her new Rolls-Royce.

Neil we've been having some extreme hot weather here as well. Like another poster said early morning rides are usually very pleasant.  One of favorite things to do in the past was to go in a early morning Sunday ride through the countryside.

That scooter is like a work of art...beautiful....the F77 is looking better and better every day...to my eyes....I'm tired of paying $30 monthly (Gas)  to cut the damn grass!
I guess we could go back to the old days and have grazing animals take care of our lawn,LOL. The side benefit to me is my scooter/motorcycle  collection sold extremely fast  with the high fuel prices. Only about half a dozen motorcycle/scooters left out of my collection of 32.

A Crown Vic and a Town Car.....you purchase only from the Carrier fleet! 🙂

Stig
Your correct,  they are built on the Panther platform that was discontinued in 2011, the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Marquis and LincolnTown Car were all built on the same platform.  They have plenty of room and don't get that bad of mpg.

I couldn't afford a Bentley or Rolls-Royce, LOL.

General Discussion / The Town Car has company

The Town Car I purchased was spotless interior. I wanted to keep it dog hair free for friends and family. My plan when I drive is to take the Collies with me. I purchased a 2011 Crown Victoria  P-71 to take the Collies in. I purchased the car in Oklahoma and had it shipped up here last Sunday.

General Discussion / Sad day indeed
« on: June 12, 2022, 02:34:04 PM »
Yesterday Dan and his wife came by with supper and picked up the last of the running motorcycles and scooters.  Difficult seeing the Majesty and BMW GS'S being loaded up. The end of a Era,  I've been riding since I was 8 years old. Difficult to admit it's over. Still have the project scooters in the garage to deal with at a later time.

Right now I'm not driving but even if I was $6. Gas would not be a deturent.   Poor farmers having to pay for Diesel right now. That price will be passed on to the consumers purchasing food in the future.

The girl that use to come by outgrew the girl scouts.  I use to purchase a case every year of the thin mints.

caught over the Memorial Day w/e.
When stopped, he said, "I wasn't paying attention" so.....he didn't realize he was riding 82 MPH over the posted speed limit.
Would love to see the $$$ figures on that citation.....and his insurance premium.

Wasn't  in town was it.
