Super 8 150 / Wasted money on a 163cc kit!!!!!
« on: December 07, 2016, 04:32:25 AM »
So I have just bought a 163cc upgrade kit for my 150 only to be told by my mechanic that there would be no difference to performance unless I bought a cam for it. I've had a look on eBay and it seems they are not available so I guess basically I've just been ripped off!!! Typical pinoy business to only tell you half a story until AFTER you've parted with cash.

Super 8 150 / 125/150 shared parts?
« on: August 18, 2016, 10:22:30 AM »
I`m looking to modify and upgrade my super 8 and found a really good UK based store but unfortunately I was told the super 8 150 is not available in UK.
I`m just wondering does anyone know what normal parts EG brakes etc are common to both models?
Until the bike is still in break-in I will avoid engine mods but for now looking to upgrade the suspension and brakes? Any ideas guys :)

No sir, I wasnt the original poster. Mine had 1km when I got. Changed oil 100km. Variable revs, hard take offs. now has 280km and will change oil again at 500km then finally will put quality oil in at 1000km

Any feedback on my break in method? I would be interested to know as there are so many conflicting ideas on this

Again, that you all for the input on this. I think the bottom line is that you guys are right because its never done it since I posted this thread and the clutch seems to be getting more and more responsive.
All I have is good things to say about it. Especially the brakes! they are awesome!

Yes I did my research on break in. I have been running it on with varied revs and changed the oil for more low quality stuff at 100KM, then next change will be 500km then 1000, 2000, 3....   and so on.
When I was reading that speed it was on/off, on/off the throttle all the up.
GPS?  You mean on my mobile Nav app?
If so I didnt realise they were that accurate.

Ok I will have it checked. The sqeel thing has only happened approx 3 times.
Apart from that though I`m over the moon with the thing!! Never thought I could have so much fun on a bike that is 136BHP LESS than my other bike??

Dont get me wrong, it performs WAY better than the Mio but its just a million miles apart when it comes to clutch activation/deactivation at low speeds. The mio will happily sit at like 5mph and crawl along. The Kymco wont engage the engine at that speed, only accelerate to a higher speed or slow down to a complete stop if that makes sense
ITs hard to explain without driving it

Without sounding like I`m trying to point score here guys, my super 8 has only done 250KM and will happily sail up to 60-65mph. It reading 105KPH and trust me on this, I`m being careful as its still breaking in??
Maybe my speedo is out?

Other symptoms are, if I pull onto my drive which is a very slight gradient is seems to need a lot more rev than I`d expect to move forward.

246 KM from new.
IT also sqeels like a pig occasionally, at which point it loses acceleration. It only does this for a few seconds at a time
