Final straw :-(
« on: July 05, 2010, 07:13:51 PM »
Right guys after having the Super 9 for two years ive never got to the bottom of the bog down on acceleration.

When I got the scoot it never had a service in 23,000km :-O So I went to work replacing as follows.

Belt
Variator
Rollers
Clutch
Mallosi white torque spring
Leo vince TT exhaust
And general maintenance over the bike.

Even after all of that and resetting the carb back to factory setting and tweaking with new plugs etc still the same?

Every pull away is the same from the lights twist the throttle and you get a bog down for around 2-3 seconds which at the lights is awfull seeing as though I was at the lights with  a Standard peugeot the other day and it wasn't until 30+ I got it back easily lol.

I really am getting to the end here as this one problem is really getting me down because it spoils the rest of the bike :-(.

So the question is, am I missing anything obvious ?

Oh BTW ive done a compression check also and that  came out fine at.
Any helps appreciated again guys :-)

Hi Yogi,

I would check for a sticking piston(slide) in the Carbi.
When I disassembled mine, I noticed that the slide was painted black, and that some patches were wearing off as the piston moves up & down.

Just a thought....

It sounds like carb. tuning to me, may be getting too much fuel at initial opening of the throttle, if you have an adjustable needle try lowering it one notch and note the difference, or, it might be time to sit down and give the carb. a good thorough clean.

You could always sell it to me!  ::)  It sounds like a carb related issue!  Worse come to worse, just throw an aftermarket carb on it! ;)

Are there any aftermarket carbs which will bolt straight up to the super 9 a/c ? at present there is a Keihin carb one there.

Also there is a second hand Keihin carb on good old Ebay, is it worth spending on that or a new one?

The bog off the bottem is usualy fuel related, dirty jets, too small a needle jet, fuel not flowing from tank. With the pipe try a richer needle setting(raise the needle, lower the clip)If it's more of a sputter your too ritch on the bottem jetting.Did you do anything to the air box?
Kymco peoples too many ;) I'm not an expert just a full time hobbiest.
