Anyone ride a spade with a passenger?  Between me and my wife we weigh 330.  Won’t ride far or fast, just wondering if we both would fit.  Me 5’11” she 5’4”

People 250 / Silly question about oil change / oil level

Just read in the manual to check the oil by NOT threading the dipstick into the engine.  Is this correct?  If so, I have been checking incorrectly ... is this true of all scooters?  I always screw the dip back in.

People 250 / valve adjust / spark plug / plastics

hi all, i just picked up a used 2007 people 250.  bike rides great, has 8000 km on the odo.  prior owner never had it serviced.  so today, i changed the oil using 10w-40 synthetic.  changed the gear oil.  topped off the coolant.  and now i want to change the spark plug and check/set the valves.  problem is i am having trouble getting the plastics off.  i easily removed the seat and seat box.  but from there, i am a little lost. one would think the front plastic would come off easily to provide access to the valves and spark plug.  but no ... i removed most screws that i could see that connect to that front piece of plastic, but its still pretty tight.  everything seems to have snap connectors to the plastic next to it.  do you have to take all the plastic off the whole back of the scoot?  like remove the rack on the back and all that painted plastic?  the rear lights are connected and it seems like that would be such a task.

any suggestions?

Super 9 / what rpm is safe for a lc engine

my new super 9 lc is derestricted and has a technigas pipe.  i dont think the carb was touched.

on the flats i can get her going 50 but the rpm's are at 10k, is it ok to run the engine this fast?  if so, for how long?

i understand that with the liquid cooling it protects the engine more than air cooled, but 10k seems pretty fast.  and down hill, it may even go 11k, i never pushed it to that limit.

thoughts?

Just bought this scooter and it's in near-new condition.  has 800km on the odo, not a scratch on it.

questions:

i paid $1000 for it, brand new battery, came with manual, both keys, bought from the original owner (confirmed by looking at the title).  was this a good deal?  i see these going for more on craigslist, but who knows what they really sell for.  There is an upgraded "technigas" exhaust, he said this was the only thing he did to the scooter (he gave me the stock exhaust as well).

he said that the dealership removed the variator restriction when he bought it.  so as far as i know, modifications are the smooth variator, and the exhaust. scooter runs great.  but when i had it sitting on the center stand, i was gassing it and saw that the rpm went to 10K, is this normal?  if i left it wide open, i think it would have gone beyond that.  i am concerned if the cdi is unrestricted, that i might damage the engine if i run it wide open. any thoughts?  is there a way to tell if the cdi was altered?  i heard that you can derestrict the cdi by cutting/unplugging a wire, that true?  also the cdi looked to be dark green, not black.

next and final questions, any service i should do?  2005 liquid super 9 with 800km on it. 

if anyone is interested, i will post pics.  pretty much a stock, red, super 9 with the techigas exhaust.

ps. my daily driver is a super 8 150 - stock.  its definitely faster than the super 9 as one would expect.  i bought the 9 for my gf and son who dont have motorcycle licenses.

People 150 / 2003 people 150 for sale near me - buy it??

There is a people 150 for sale near me.  Has about 2500 miles.  Price $500.  Owner says it runs but needs a battery.  Should I buy it?  Note that I don't need it, just bought a super 8 150.  But I can't pass up a bargain - if this is a bargain ...

I have an opportunity to purchase a 2013 Sumer 8 leftover brand new for 1450 + 300 tax / tags / etc.  so 1750 out the door.  But this model is made in China.  Any concerns?  Should I look for one made in Taiwan?  Kymco has a great name but I have heard that even their scooters suffer from quality issues when manufactured in China.  Not the same quality as the Taiwan made scooters.  The $1450 is a good price for this scooter and is the older version, not based on the agility platform.  Just not sure about the quality.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

A dealer near me has a new super 8 150 that I can buy out the door for 1750, selling price is 1450 + tax, doc fee, tags, etc.  they are not adding prep fees or anything else.  Bike is new with under 5 miles on it.  Is this a good deal?  I read about Chinese made vs Taiwanese and also about lack of tires for this model, etc.  and the new models are out, any differences between 2013 vs 2015/6?  I was originally looking for a used 125 Zuma in the same price range but this new super 8 is cheaper, and comes with the full warranty.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  I currently own an agility 50 which is too slow for me.  Thanks!  Also I noticed that msrp on the 2013 is 2500 and msrp on the 2015 is 2300.  Did they lower the price?  New model is the 150r.

Agility 50 / Restricted or not? - used a50

I recently purchased a 2013 Agility 50 with 750 on the odo.  I am the 3rd owner with the first 2 owners being teens, one kept for a year, sold to his friend, then sold to me.

I was told by the father of the 2nd teen that no mods were done, as the "kid dont have the know-how :)".  but i dont know if teen #1 did anything.

on the flats, my a50 will go 43mph, faster down hill (as per the stock speedo).  going up hill, it is slow, really slow, maybe 20 mph.  In restricted mode, i was told these scooters top out at 30mph. 

so I wonder if the scooter had some mods done.  Its a 2013 and the cdi looks stock - its a DC cdi Suitai D411.  I have heard that some dealers will remove the boss restriction when they sell them.  Anyone know if this is true?  I do realize i can take it apart and find out, but i only want to do that when i receive my own derestrict parts.

Btw, here are my plans for derestriction.  I want to increase acceleration and hill speed as there are numerous hills near me.  dont care much about the top end, a few mph slower is ok.
-- no limit cdi
-- upgrade carb jet
-- smooth boss (if not already done)
-- 5.5 gram rollers (or maybe 6 gram sliders)

how does that sound?  Any suggestions where to buy?  ebay/amazon has plenty but how good can the parts be when a new cdi costs 15 bucks?   I found a kit for $60 (certainly made in china) that includes all of the above.  anyone with experience with ebay derestrict parts please chime in!  the kit i am looking at is http://www.ebay.com/itm/181502229277
