Hey guys looking for a front mounted plow. Kymco 450i.
-
I have read where the Cabela's snow plow is a good value for the buck. Personally I would prefer a mid mount for heavy duty plowing as it is easier on the frame. many of the front mounts are recommended for light to med duty plowing as it puts a good amount of strain on the front end components. Front mounts do lift the blade higher than a mid frame mount. I have the Quad Boss "Pile Driver" plow kit, extremely heavy duty and a quick attach and release and requires a winch.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I am OK with the mid mount and agree with you. Is there a lot of modifications that need to be done to mount the hardware on the frame. What is involved. What was the cost. Thanks!!

I was one of the first to mount a plow on the 450i as it was just new on the market, but now I believe there are mfgrs that know have a mount to fit midframe. I used a 1/4" wall angle iron x 1 1/2" and ran two pieces front to back connecting the three cross braces together. My plow mount attaches to those two pcs of angle iron. In order to utilize the quick attach and release feature the mount must hang below the skid plate and it is about 1 1/4" thick but when plow season is done I remove the mount (6 bolts) and the bottom of the machine is smooth again. I also replace those 6 bolts to help support the skid plate. Those two pcs of angle give additional support and protection to the bottom of the machine. If you do a search on front mounted snow plows for UTV's and atv's you will read some ugly stories about people damaging the front end of their machines but doing heavy plowing. I decided to not take that chance, always have used a mid mounted plow on my atv for 16 yrs and never had an issue, didn't want to start now....

I am actually in the process of putting a plow together for my 450i. Bought an old 4’ tractor
Plow for 40$ and some extra steel plate and tubing to add onto it. Trying to finish tomorrow and add some pics. Basically added a foot to each side and fabbed up a mount that carries to the rear of the engine. Also sticks far enough ahead of the machine that I can lift the plow almost vertically. It will be winch operated for up and down, as well as another winch to turn the the plow left or right. All done with only losing 1 1/4†ride height. Still have 10 3/4†clearance
Pics and possible video to come.

Check out Eagle plows as they are american made and very good quality. I've had mine for 4yrs and have had zero issues. Reasonably priced also.
