Yager GT 200i / Blurr and Yager Variator are the same!
« on: December 03, 2012, 01:51:22 PM »
Looking on the SYM site, someone had a problem with their Blur variator cracking.
I noticed in the picture it has the same number printed on it (KKC3) though ours is updated
with squiggles designed to stop the cracking;

Yager GT 200i / Turbulator?
« on: December 01, 2012, 09:02:40 PM »
I had one of these on an old Super Sherpa. It seemed to increase torque.
Unfortunately I sold it with the bike a while ago. The 26mm one is the right
size for the output side of the throttle body but the injector is a little ways
away so not sure it will do much. Anybody want to try it, it's short money;

Yager GT 200i / Fixing The Yager Seat
« on: November 27, 2012, 01:07:51 AM »
Here's the seat, notice the dome in the front underneath to allow for 2 helmet's under there;

Removeing the cover;

Reveals this;

The padding has dimples molded into it to soften it a bit? Min has one filled when it should have been
empty. This show's we have about 1" of foam for a cushion;

The plan is to cut out the dimple (yellow), put in a flat piece of plastic and add more foam.
I'm not sure what to do about the horn (red lines). I slip forward a bit too and might add taller
shocks later so will have to tilt it back a bit;

Yager GT 200i / Running Cold?
« on: November 19, 2012, 07:53:19 PM »
I was riding around yesterday and the scoot felt a bit funny. It sometimes
stumbled when coming to a stop and also when first accelerating. Some other
scoots have had a problem with the cold and they've taken to putting a piece
of cardboard blocking the radiator (just like the old busses).

I'd like to mount a temp gauge but I'm not sure if they all use the same temp
 sensor. I took this info out of the service manual (Yager on top and Grand
Dink 250 on bottom).

 The Grand Dink manual says to test the display ground the sensor line and all
dots will light on the dash. So we need to see 150 to 10 ohms? Anybody know
anything about temp sensors? I imagine we could get a meter movement and
a few resistors and make our own?

I'd guess 50 ohms is cold and 30 ohms is hot?

 The thermostat begins to open at 80C and is full open at 90C. The fan turns on
at 90C Hmm that doesn't seam right, the fan turns on when we are warmed up?

Yager GT 200i / How big is the Variator?
« on: November 18, 2012, 10:20:34 PM »
I measured the variator and clutch today.

The Variator is 126mm and uses 21 splines.

The clutch bell ID is 130mm and has 19 splines.

I hear the GY6 guys talking about oversized pulleys so thought I'd present the info.

Yager GT 200i / Make a Windshield
« on: November 18, 2012, 03:52:01 PM »
Having more time than money, I found my old broken Parabelium
windshield and decided to cut it down to try on the Yager;

I used my jig saw with a fine non-curf blade (the sides are straight) and cut very slowly. Too quick and
it will crack!;

I stuck it on with some velcro dot's left over form a laminar lip install;

Kind of ugly and I'm not sure it will stay on very well but good to see how much windshield I need!

General Discussion / Brand New 2005 Vespa's?
« on: November 17, 2012, 09:18:28 PM »
What's up with this guy selling 2005 Vespa's that are new in the box.
Lost in a warehouse? The slow boat just got in? They are 5 years overdue!

Yager GT 200i / Rear Shocks $99!
« on: November 17, 2012, 01:24:21 PM »
I was looking through the JC Whitney catalog and found some shocks that looked good.
Unfortunately JCW doesn't give any specs, they want you to order by the bike you have
(probably to avoid mistakes and returns). So I noticed on the side it said Emgo and did
a search for those and found some!

They say they have"
Multistage velocity-response valving controls fluid flow during compression and extension.
Multistage replenishing valving for instant response to rebound with better dampening control.
Low-viscosity index oil damping fluid is compounded to reduce wear, control aeration and resist fading even under the worst conditions. Shocks have 1-1/2" diam. body, smooth inner cylinder walls for less friction and increased shock life and polished metal top spring clip. Each shock has an upper and lower spring, each with a different rating. Dual springs (instead of one) ensure a more effective response, better shock absorption, longer spring life and a more comfortable ride. Springs can be adjusted from 160 to 190 lbs. Sold in pairs only."

So should be better than stock. The only problem is we need 12.75" Eye to Clevis, they only have
eye to eye in that size. You can use longer but the slope of the seat will increase. Best to get the
shocks then mod the seat?

Yager GT 200i / Aero mods?
« on: November 16, 2012, 09:29:57 PM »
I found a couple of spots where the air could flow smoother on the Yager. Remember
we can go faster if there is less drag and that's probably easier than making more power.

Here are 2 plates I added to the underside;

Cars are much slipperier than bikes (mainly because of the large flat areas) but they need to improve
too. They have lots of info and don't want to spend a lot to get results. The wheels are particularly
"dirty" so what they have come up with is these tiny bumps to clear a wake for the wheel to go through;

I thought I'd add something similar to the Yager and see what it does;

It's just a 2"peice of angle aluminum glued to the bottom of the motor. Not sure it does anything
waiting for warmer weather to find out!

Yager GT 200i / Downtown 125i makes same power as Yager?
« on: November 15, 2012, 10:43:39 PM »
I came across this today on a Euro site;

It says the Downtown 125i makes the same power as the Yager just at 1000 RPM's higher.
Hmmm Maybe it has 4 valve heads?

Yager GT 200i / SideVisor
« on: November 12, 2012, 09:20:29 PM »
I found this side visor on a Taiwanese site. They had some suspension parts
too but I don't see prices or how to order...

Yager GT 200i / Add Weight For Stability at Speed?
« on: November 12, 2012, 12:44:46 AM »
I found this on another web site. They were adding 10 or 20 pounds of lead
to the front of the scooter to help the high speed stability. Hmmm.

They also cut the corners off the plastic guides for the variator to stop some sort of noise;

And they some how found stiffer clutch springs for the Downtown 300i. I expect they are somewhat standard but
don't see anyone offering them for Kymco scoots. You can almost read the label but not quite!

Yager GT 200i / Interesting Parts
« on: November 11, 2012, 04:34:19 PM »
Kymco makes a Downtown 300i as well as Shadow 300i and a special model
called K-XCT. Here's some parts used on those scoots;

The first is a rear shock with dual progressive springs;

Crazy! I'm not sure how they figure out what the rate is?

Here's a cool rear fender off another bike;

Yager GT 200i / Rubber Passenger Pegs?
« on: November 11, 2012, 04:24:47 PM »
In looking at the ads for the Yager in different markets I came
across this picture;

It seams to be a passenger peg with rubber insert from the factory. Mine are all metal, maybe they
can be purchased from the dealer?

Yager GT 200i / OEM flasher for LED's
« on: November 11, 2012, 04:22:06 PM »
When you change the blinker bulbs to LED they don't flash right as the load
is less than expected by the flasher. The Xciting 700i uses LED's for blinkers
(at least in Korea) so the flasher for that scoot works with LED's. Here's
some pics;
