Off the Can-Am Spyder RTS and on to Like 200i
« on: March 19, 2014, 01:08:17 AM »
Totally new on two wheelers! Last year I got my endorsement and been riding my Spyder RTS.
However, I've been looking at purchasing a scooter to keep my learned skills on two wheels. Been looking at Bergman 600 and 400. But the price was way too high. Two weekends ago I visited my local Kymco dealer and immediately felt in love with the Like200i. After learning the price and much reading on this forum I got my ride home last Friday. Its an awesome little bike. Love it. I already ordered an aftermarket windshield and some stripes to customize my ride. Already put 38 miles on it just riding through my neighborhood and church. Its been great. I've been away for spring break up in the mountains in TN but been looking forward going back home to work and ride my Like.

I add pictures through Flickr. Uploading is easy and you can get the BBCode and just paste into the body of your message. As for a first mod? Put some lock washers on your exhaust cover bolts! Any engine upgrades and you chance voiding your warranty. But when you do, Dr. Pulley sliders are a great start.

Dole - If she detonates - my plan is to reach in the fire and remove the Dr Pulleys and toss in the old rollers!
If it's a real coflagration - I'll just toss in the Dr Pulleys and let the adjuster try to figure out why this scoot has 12 weights --- or, OR - I'll tell him the sliders were in the top case for when the warranty was over!

JuanJax - Dad Gum that's a pretty scooter!
Welcome!
Kymco really made the LIKE in some nice colors! I'd could have one each!
Also, that is a nice looking dealership! Where is this?
I'm going to be nosey - what is the on the road price for a LIKE 200i these days - Is the red one a 50cc? ....and what is the 'birth date' of your scoot? Was it sold as a 2014, '13 or '12?
(the production date tag is under the body near the rear shock)

Nice scooter....either KYMCO is selling more of these LIKE 200i's than any other KYMCO here in the States - or disproportionately large percentage of  LIKE owners are finding their way to this forum!
I'm very happy with mine...and I hope you will be, too!
Ride it safely, Stig

Congratulations on your purchase. I have that same color.

First thing I'd do is clean and wax. You might want to consider adding a pigtail connector to your battery and route it through the bottom for easy connection to a battery maintainer like a a Deltran battery tender for those times you may not ride for an extended period. That's about the only things I have done to mine. Also, go through the bike and check for loose screws and bolts. Some have had issues with the exhaust shield screws coming loose and for me a bolt went missing on the air box.

Thanks all! Got back from TN and decided doing a couple off customization before bed...

1. Added a Ram ball and platform for my Bose SoundLink Mini... (Photo tomorrow).

2. Installed windscreen, Test ride and results tomorrow.

Wow!
Thanks for the pix...keep them coming as you do stuff.
I had to have help from the forum just to put in those front LEDs.....they burned out over time and I read on a LED site that  LEDs were no brighter than reg bulbs. so, I replaced the LEDs with a yellow reg bulb. Seems fairly bright up there. And no issues with bulb life.

JuanJax - Nice scoot! Have put a little over 5000 miles this past year on a white one myself. Always get compliments on the color. Have you ridden at night yet? Curious about whether you get a headlight reflection on the bottom of your shield I tried adjusting it every which way without success. Now when I ride at night I just put a couple of strips of electrician's tape across the top of the light and take it off when I get home.
Peace and ride safe.

Thanks Donadrews,

Actually, maybe because of my height (5-9) the  headlight doesn't seem to be an issue. Also, the phone blocks the small band that's visible when I look down.
See Photo 5 Above.

I also added some stripes to my ride yesterday!
Awaiting for my chrome trim or bumper guards to arrive sometime next week (Hopefully). Also debating on the installation of LEDs...

Here's current state... :)
