Head light glare fix.
« on: May 21, 2018, 08:42:00 AM »
I have been doing a lot more riding in the dark lately and have noticed the headlight glare that has been mentioned before and although I liked Stig's idea of fixing it I thought I would try another method.  The area that causes the problem is the bevel in the headlight that runs around the edge as it reflects light straight to you (see photo 1) so I purchased some chrome pinstripe tape (9 mm wide) and used that to cover that area.  The only problem I had was that the pinstripe is not meant to be curved so I got some minor distortion at the bottom of the tape but it is barely noticeable.  Will test it out on the way to work tomorrow morning and see how it holds up after a few weeks.  Click on the attachments to enlarge.

Yeah, I  looked for the same chrome stuff...but I can see more glare than the fairly narrow tape could cover, and I wondered what heat from bulb would do.

The "classy" black electrical tape which I had been using was leaving a mess on the lens☺

Love that RED scooter!

I like this fix, if it holds up to the heat.  Has anyone found (or made) a small visor for the headlight?  That should work, but I wonder if it would look right...

Looks like they addressed that glare problem on the 150i

It must be a tall person issue. I can see the light's on, but I don't suffer from glare.

When I had my Like 125 I would have agreed with you but I suffer it with the 200i and I am not tall, only 5' 7".  Same design on both scooters so I am not sure why.  I do have a more modern light weight helmet now that has a larger vision area so maybe that is why.

It has now been scientifically proven that anyone over six foot tall gets the glare, sees a blue dress, and hears "Laurel".

W e l l.....
You also think your red scooter is orange....
so it is likely further symptoms of that vision problem you've hinted at.

It's orange, I swear.   The color darkens a lot when not in the sun light.  https://kymco.com.au/like-200i-le/
Sure your not jealous because you don't get this model.  ;D

I almost bought a red one like yours. He was writing up the sale when I found the LX model over by the helmets.
"Hey, I want this one, instead!"   (and why didn't you show it to me...)
Neighbors wife has one . Hubby bought the blue/black, she the red. He told me they'd watch me ride by for months, told his wife, "that looks like fun!"
Then 3 neighbors bought motorcycles.
Pretty scoot, that one of yours....lighting IS different in the snow down there in wintry Australia.
