Agility 125 / Re: Bogs down at about 35 mph
« on: May 08, 2024, 09:18:41 AM »
Hello,
Recently my agility 125 dropped out while riding. It starts, idles fine, but when I give it a turn of the throttle it bogs down and chokes. I thought it might be the CDI but I had a new spare and tried it and nothing changed. It runs smooth if I feather it up to 30-35 mph then it bogs down. I cannot detect any type of vacuum leak either. Gas is clean, got a new plug wire, new CDI, anybody got any idea?
Don't know if this is useful, but an old stator will cause your motor to repeatedly "bog down" at constant cruise speed. Just slightly, but enough to be annoying. You'll need a flywheel puller to get at the stator to change it. Takes about an hour to do the change.

General Discussion / Re: Kymco 200i Petrol Pump failing
« on: May 08, 2024, 09:15:23 AM »
There's enough information on failed Kymco Like 200s here on this website to keep folks occupied for the next 10 years.  The Like 200i fuel system is the most common Kymco failure by a mile!  I'm suspecting that this common, repeatable failure might be due to ethanol-gas, but more research needed.  But it's certain that one should never store a m/c (or a boat) with ethanol-gas in the tank. That is certain to create downstream problems. I run my Kymco on boat gas to avoid ethanol, but not all riders have access to boat gas or av-gas.

While it's in the shop, tell him to get off his butt and fix the error messages at the bottom of the screen!  It's not rocket science, maybe 10 minutes of maintenance.  But it would hugely improve the "User Experience" as they say!

it looks like on line is the way to go.
That's the way that works best for me.  Just put the part # into your search bar and all kinds of choices pop up.  I needed a front brake caliper last month, none to be found anywhere in the western world, so I gave it to Google and a brand-new caliper popped up on my screen for $22.  It was on the other side of the world, and arrived a week later on my doorstep. Shipping was an extra $24, and the total was $46.  Quite excellent!  So, yes, online is the way to go.

Maybe in India? Vietnam?

Made in the USA. You don't have them where you live?

Well, those days are gone now!  Same for Land Rover!

Do others have a plan in place in case of a random roadside breakdown?

Check your dimensions! Your Kymco Scooter likely fits inside a handicap taxi!  Please forgive, I know it's a hijacked topic, but I took it as I found it. It was too good to pass up :-)

Custom trouser pocket on my right thigh.  It's always there, out of harm's way.

There are several good videos on You Tube about cutting down the factory windshield.
If you're hitting bugs, don't cut down your windshield!  You'll be back where you started!  You'll also be out the $500 cost of a decent windshield.
Also, FWIW, windshields don't increase drag, they just deflect rain and bugs.

General Discussion / Re: if KYMCO would spend a few $ on marketing!
« on: March 22, 2024, 06:16:38 AM »
article is 3 years old and this is first I have heard..... if they really wanted to market, I'd have heard of it long before 2024
Like every other large electric bike, that e-Harley was a total bust! They couldn't even give them away!  If you've ever ridden one, you'd know why!  Kymco probably picked up the entire enterprise for scrap value.

how can i find 2009 ECU?
Do you have the Kymco part #?  Just plunk it into your browser search and sources will pop up like magic.

I am hopelessly IT illiterate.....and perfectly content to be so🙂
Don't give up without a fight!  God's greatest gift is being able to learn new sh*t!

Looks better than the Kymco tool at 200 bucks! So, where does one find one of these?
There is no such Kymco tool!  The dealers lease the software/tool from Kymco.  Non-dealers can't get it.  Any information posted here on functional work-arounds is priceless!

This alone sounds like a good reason to switch to an LED tail-light! I now realize why I've never had to change bulbs on my 15-yr old Kymco (all factory LED lights).

IDK -JJ and his buds apparently have the worst luck with scooters - especially those with EFI.

Stig

I like to follow this topic from time to time.  I truly don't know if it's a generational thing, or there is some serious issues with new technology.  Stig, recall the lengthy sessions you had with your Like 200 fuel filter problem.  I and a few of my older fellow motor-heads stick to pre-2010 carburetor machines, while the younger rich guys ride snappy FI Piaggios, FI Yamahas, FI Kymcos, etc.  They're really impressive machines, but when they stop working, you're going to be taken to the cleaners, no 2-ways about it! My more prosperous buddies trade their machines in at the slightest sign of a problem. Meanwhile, my 16 year old carbureted Kymco 100 keeps motoring along, long after the last Kymco dealer closed shop and retired. My buddy's Piaggio 350 is now being towed back to the Vespa dealer to have its $950 throttle body replaced. The throttle body had to be imported from Italy.  Required diagnostics and tuning are extra.  It's a work in progress. If I had to pay for that on my small pension, I'd have to give up motoring. I'll keep you posted.
