Agility 125 / seat lock inoperable

Help! Is there any trick to getting the seat off? I replaced the panels after my wife painted them and I think the cable came loose, so the lock won't open it.

Is the odometer, not speedometer, in Km or miles. Is there any markings or any way to tell? Can it be changed?
