General Discussion / Re: tragety in my family

I'm so sorry, you and your family are in my thoughts.

The symptoms you're describing sound like something I'd expect on a carb - but you've got fuel injection.

I'd suggest you might be getting fuel starvation. Has it been laid up for a while?

Clean the fuel filter if it has one for starters. Is the fuel old?

It was indeed around 0 degrees celcius and there were a few ice patches so there were a few skittery points, so I had to take care, but a lot of the road was pretty dry.

I think was using postimg.cc, which works really well. Unlikely my clumsy numberplate censoring!

I've had so much fun over the last 5 years with this ride in to the office. I'm going to have to actually start riding for fun from now on. It'll be a real change of philosophy!

Like I say, impressed.  Every bit as good as my Michelin CG2's and their capabilities cornering exceeded mine!  Happy bunny.

Embarassing really - you said quite clearly in thr post above if i had just scrolled up...

It's been a good few years but I was a great fan of the original Anlas winter grip on my delivery scooter back in 2016ish.

It makes all the difference on those marginal days.

I'd be interested to hear what you think. I've not had a bike they would fit since.

I've had a few blastings from the rain this year, most notably a week ago on the Tuesday.

There's little in life worse than when the cold water begins to ingress to your a) feet or b) crotch :(

We've had a similar epidemic in the UK with Range Rovers!

The good news is that the thieves normally break down after about 100 yards, hampering their effective escape.

Agreed, I've avoided a ride so far this year because of the rain.  Maybe tomorrow.

Your tale takes me back to my 365 days a year commuting by bike days.  Deepest water I ever encountered (on my Kawa ZX-9R) was on the A41 from Chester home to just North of Wolverhampton.  Only saw this lake at the last minute (it was dark & raining) so hit it at about 25 mph - about 15 or so more than ideal.  Like you, it was legs up and hang on for dear life to avoid a grim death!  Near to the RAF base & Stormy Petrel pub if you know it?  Happy days.

I do know it!

I think my commuting days are rapidly coming to an end - change of job looming in March and I'll only be a 15 minute cycle or C70 ride from home, so no more 50 miles to Nottingham each way anymore.

Been pretty miserable in the UK too for the last week or so. I had one of the more unpleasant rides I've had in quite a long time yesterday, tramping through the Derbyshire Dales on my 250. Some properly deep standing water that necessitate holding my ankles up at the tank base. Certainly wouldn't have tried it in a car.

Thanks all. It was sold in the states for a while but looks to have been horribly unpopular - which it was here, too.

That is quite a ride, Neil - but sometimes the ride can be good fun. I am waiting to imminently hear about a job change that will havr me riding a lot more, which seems contrary to the direction everyone else is moving in.

Getting about 80mpg UK, or 66mpg US. Which is the main reason i ride to work as the bills stack up fast.

Only 30K miles on it so it will be good for a good few years yet. Went to Thruxton and back for the British Super Bikes last weekend - 320 mile round trip :)

Afternoon everybody!

Haven't posted any pictures for a couple of years, so I thought they were probably overdue.

I live in the West Midlands region of the UK, but I work in the East and have spent a lot more time going in to the office of late, to my regret.

It's not all bad, though. The trip from my city to the office is a delight; a few miles of dual carriageway out of town, before climbing on to the Staffordshire Moorlands and skirting the bottom of the Peak district as I wind more than 30 miles of country roads before doing a short stint on the M1 motorway again to finish up.

I've had this bike a year now; how time flies. It's a Suzuki Inazuma 250 (GW250). It didn't sell well in the UK, and anywhere else I believe, probably hampered by the fact it's an ugly blighter. However, the 26hp twin-cylinder Suzuki motor is a gem. It's not slow, and pushing the revs through the 6 gears allows you to have quite a fun rural ride, though you're never going that fast. It was a budget purchase after it became clear my old CB250 wasn't going to carry on much longer, and I've been dead chuffed.

I went Thruxton over the last weekend on it, which was 340 miles with no complaints, at motorway (highway) speeds for a lot of it.

I am likely to start working in the office more as time goes on, but I'm no longer that worried about it as, for a good chunk of the year, I'll enjoy the ride.

Gorgeous sunrise there. That's one of the things I look forward to as the evenings start to draw in a little more.
