People s200 / Oil leak - failed cylinder gasket.
« on: June 19, 2012, 06:46:56 PM »
At around 4700 miles, I started noticing a small (1-2 drops/mile) oil leak.  I took the bike apart and found the cylinder gasket (between the cylinder and crankcase) pinched out of the joint.

I have found a few other references to this happening on Kymcos, but it doesn't seem to be a common problem.

Question:  How should I fix this?  Possibilities:

* Loosen the cylinder and squirt in some 'form a gasket' liquid
* Pull the cylinder with the engine in the bike
* Remove the engine and replace the gasket on a bench

Also, should I pull the piston from the cylinder, or just try to loosen the cylinder and remove the wrist pin with the piston still in the cylinder?

Regards,

Alex

People s200 / S 200 Mileage
« on: July 02, 2010, 06:04:26 PM »
What mileage are you getting?  My S 200 gets about 48 mpg.  I has about 2000 miles on it, and I keep the stock tires at the recommended 2-up pressure of 25 & 32 PSI.  I'm running a slightly larger than stock main carb jet, which seems to add some top end.

I ride it hard, but usually at around 40-45 MPH around town.

People s200 / Top speed for an S 200
« on: May 19, 2009, 11:22:22 PM »
My 2007 S 200 is finally broken in - just hitting the 1000 mile mark today.

The top speed is a bit short of my hopes.  It seems to run out of steam at about 57 mph (per GPS) on level ground.  Note that the speedo reads about
66 mph (15% high).  The tires are inflated to the manual's recommended
pressures for 2 riders, and I weigh around 200 lbs.

What's your top end (level/no wind) speed?

Alex

General Discussion / A beautiful 60-degree Spring day
« on: April 05, 2009, 01:46:28 AM »
Just got back from a 35 mile early Spring ride.  It hit 60 degrees here in Redmond, WA, and the bikes are out.  The People S 200 just hit 600 miles, and is gaining a little speed.  The cherries are in bloom, and the rural back roads are clean and dry.  Hope all the northerners (and everybody else) gets some of this gorgeous riding weather.

Alex

People s200 / Just got my S 200
« on: February 03, 2009, 07:01:00 AM »
Just got my new (to me) 2007 red S 200.  I've been having a great time with it.  It's my 2nd scooter.  The other one is a 2008 Yamaha Majesty (400cc) maxiscooter.  The S 200 is quite the around-town vehicle.  The Majesty is great on the highways (90 mph maximum), but not the light/nimble vehicle like the S 200.

I live in Redmond, near Seattle.  The hills here are extremely steep by national standards, and a 50cc bike isn't enough to go even 25 mph up them.  But the S 200 has had plenty of pep anywhere the speed limit is 50 or below.

Although two years old, my S 200 isn't fully broken in yet, at 475 miles.  I'm not sure what the top end is.  It got up to about 65 indicated on level ground with minimal wind, but I don't trust the speedo.  How fast have others clocked theirs?
