Like 50 2T / Humidity and carb jetting
« on: September 07, 2015, 11:24:59 PM »
Anybody know if humidity affects the carburetor? It seems like when we get really humid days my like is sluggish, as if it were running rich. Am I imagining it, or is that an indicator that I am running borderline rich and extra humid air makes it just too rich?

Can't answer for sure on the Like 200, but on my 50, most aftermarket windshield mounts seem to utilize those bolts from the turn signals. Not too difficult to move the signals down to the body, I did to have access to the space for my windshield and I love having it on there!

Hate to say, but it probably is your idle jet, and yes, lots of times that one needs a physical cleaning. I know with the ignition system on my like, if the battery is low or dead it will present symptoms like that. Do you have to kick start it or can you use the starter? If you can't use the starter, try charging up your battery.

Looks nice! Are the tires hand mount-able with some levers? Haven't been around scooters long enough to change them yet :)

Thanks for the info! Looks like it would be a bigger project than I'm able to take on right now. Probably keep looking at what I'll do with the existing 50. Just saw it on CL and it sparked an idea, haha.

I've got a 2012 Like 50 2t, I just saw a local has a 2009 People s200 that is crashed, undriveable but the engine and transmission are good. Would it even be possible to swap that motor into my chassis?

Thanks guys! Zombie, I know you've posted in several other places of a good setup for someone around the 200 lbs mark included the dr. pulley sliders and the red malossi spring. Is there a particular rpm rating or percentage over stock for that spring that I can transfer to other brand springs if I can't find the malossi?

Do you still have these jets for sale? Also, is the stock keihin carb on the like 50 2t the M4?

Like 50 2T / OEM Roller Size

I have been searching on this forum and elsewhere online and I can't find a definitive answer. Is the OEM roller size for a 2012 Like 50 2t 15x12 or 16x13? I've found both claimed and don't want to order a set of Dr. Pulley's that don't fit right. Thanks!

The adapter is the same one for all bikes. You can even use a serrated steak knife to cut a slot if needed.
Start at 2 turns out from seated for your base line. Like B&L stated earlier the factory settings are all over the place, and more often than not... wrong!
   Thanks!

People 50 / Re: 2001 People 50 (two stroke) - Need parts
« on: September 26, 2014, 12:52:20 AM »
Your variator is the same as all the other Kymco 50cc bikes so use whatever. It's actually the drive boss that is different but a new variator, and rollers for around 50 bucks is a much better way to go. There is also a spring that controls the rear pulley set. That should be upgraded to a Malossi red spring. It will help w/ hills, and take off.

Looking at digging into my transmission...I need hill climbing ability more than overall top speed. For my weight, around 200, I've been reading a Malossi red spring and Dr. Pulley 7-8g sliders, will this help on the hills or should I adjust some for that? Also, should I look at replacing the variator too or is the stock one sufficient for more uphill driveability and less focus on top speed? Thanks!

Remove the carb. Using an exacto knife try to detach as much adhesive around the cap as possible. Try to spin the cap (There is adhesive underneath it too) then use compressed air to blow it out of the housing.

Thats how I did it. Not very professional/technical but I didnt have to use a drill. You will need a D slotted adapter for the mixture screw http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CMWC4U/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Does this adapter work on the stock 16mm Keihin carb or is this one for your 19mm that you put on your bike?

Technical | How To / Re: How-to check all vacuum lines
« on: September 26, 2014, 12:07:56 AM »
Yeah it should. If the bike sat for a while, those petcocks seize up. Clean up the fuel line, then blow really hard on it in the direction of the petcock you'll hear it pop open hopefully. I use compressed air but sometimes that blows the diaphragm.

Do these petcocks sometimes seize in the open position? After removing the vacuum line (so there should be no vacuum) I still have free flow from the fuel line to the carb. If they can will blowing backward in the fuel line do anything other than give me a mouthful of gasoline?
