Agility 50 vs. Super 8 50 2T uphill...

My Super 8 50 2T runs fine, tops out at 35-36 mph on long flat stretches.  On a long uphill it drops to about 22 mph.  Would an Agility 50 be any better uphill?

Yours is a common question from 50cc owners.....

The performance you describe is pretty normal for an unmodified 2 stroke 50cc scooter.
Your 2 stroke has more potential for real modifications than does a 4 stroke.
Please try submitting a new thread specifically asking for proven speed mods for a 2 stroke 50cc scooter.
Something like: "Best speed mods for a 2 stroke 50cc scooter".....see what the experts have to say.

EA, Even with modifications with a 2T engine, you wont get much as far as sizable gains. I had the same issue in Rome with my Honda SH-50 and Aprilia SR-50. I wanted to see what I could do to increase my horsepower, but it soon became cost prohibitive. My Italian mechanic basically told me to upgrade to a bike with at least a 150 cc engine, which I ended up doing.
Maybe I touched a nerve with Stig about the weight comment, but there is some truth to it with 50 cc engines. You might be able to swap out the 50 for a 150 on your bike, not too sure though. One of the reasons people like to modify 50cc engines is that they dont need to have a special license to drive one. Many guys I knew in Rome often put a larger engine on their bikes along with modified exhausts. Most people cant tell the difference with the engine modifications. Like I said before, this got to be very expensive for me...

Thanks to everyone for the comments.  I've owned 49cc scoots and nopeds for a while but I moved from a relatively flat community to one with more hilly terrain.  There's really only one place where the hill-climbing ability is an issue; so I can deal with it.  And the 35 mph top speed on flats is adequate.  I like having the 49cc short local hops (no plates or inspections).  I have motorcycles for higher speeds and longer rides.  Thanks  again.  Evelyn Angel Martin

Not sure how he did it.....but we had a LIKE50 owner here who was ripping around at 60mph with his scooter group....until he wrecked.

You could try going lighter on the rollers - you may gain a couple of mph up the hill.

He had a video. That was one quick  LIKE50!
Very determined fellow, lost license.
...so bought and built a LIKE50. Was skeptical myself, until the video.
Also had a fellow with a built 2 stroke 50 in Florida which he drag raced ---- it would do 70mph.
Enough $, skill and patience ---- they can be built.

Tune the cvt.  Lighter weights . for hills better gears.

I have several Aprilia SR 50s (fuel injected, water-cooled, two stroke) and with the correct tuning (de-restrict the ECU, performance exhaust pipe, tweaking roller weights, removal of restriction ring in the variator, performance variator) you can easily reach 80 to 85 kph and have no problem to climb most hills.
