Yager GT 200i / Resolved: Loss of power, loss of acceleration Yager 200i
« on: February 09, 2019, 02:36:32 AM »
I had a loss of acceleration and power on my 2012 Yager 200i GT.  The bike was running very well in general and starting great.  On a 30 plus degree upgrade, I could not accelerate well and it was wide open throttle just to maintain 45 MPH on an incline.  Something just did not feel right.

As I took the seat and box off to inspect the spark plug, I noticed that the tube connected to the air filter box was crimped to the point of maybe restricting the airflow to about 50 percent (or more).  I was happy to find it.  I twisted the hose so that the crimp was removed.  I reassembled the seat and took it for a spin.  It was like a new bike.  No more worries.  Good acceleration and the fun was back.

It was my fault.  I was inspecting the air filter months ago before the weather turned cold and when I reattached the tube to the air box, I twisted it and created the crimp in the tube.  It was very difficult to notice from below or looking directly at the airbox from the side.  The cold weather didn't help.

Maybe this will help someone.  The engine needs to breath!

General Discussion / Re: walmart selling scooters

I saw some Coleman minibikes at Walmart recently.

The problem with buying a scooter at Walmart is where would you go if you had a warranty issue or needed parts?  Do you think Walmart would help you with either?

I think that is a disposable scooter :-)

Yager GT 200i / I want to turn off my headlight at times.
« on: September 24, 2018, 06:09:27 PM »
At various times, while servicing or even just setting the clock on my Yager 200i, I don't want to crank the engine but I want to turn the ignition to the on position.

But the headlight comes on and with all of my past battery problems, I want to be able to turn the headlight off.

Any ideas?  I electrically inclined but I just don't know the best way to go about doing it or how to even get at the Yager's wiring.

Thanks

Dave

Got the new battery.  Having to put in the acid made me nervous but it was ok.  I placed the Acid Bottles over the battery and pushed down over the holes.  The tubes inside the battery punctured the seals and the acid poured into the battery.  Didn't have to use golves and no mess.

Took about 3 hours to charge on a 2 Amp charge.

Bike started right up and I went for a ride :-)

Hmm seems weird ??? It is probable that either Amazon or Ebay has it wrong, you could email both sellers to confirm sizes etc before you buy? Most bike shops keep a stock of different batteries here on the shelf, i got one a few years ago for my Agility which was the same rating and physical size but a different make and number. Surely one of your local shops must have one that will work in your scoot?

I contacted the seller.  They said the dimensions were for the packaging.  I ordered a Yuasa battery from Amazon.  Anyway, I hope they change their "product description".  They might sell more batteries.

Loads of them online ???

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000N5R6WM/sr=/qid=/ref=olp_seeall_fm?ie=UTF8&colid=&coliid=&condition=new&me=&qid=&shipPromoFilter=0&sort=sip&sr=&startIndex=0
Thanks :-)

It's weird.  That battery has dimensions of Product Dimensions: 6.9 x 6.6 x 6.5 inches ; 8.2 pounds and that doesn't jive with the dimensions of that same battery on Ebay.  Those dimensions would too big for the battery compartment on the Yager.  Is it possible that Amazon is wrong?  :-)

Thanks again everyone!

Well, it turns out that the batter is bad.

I drove all over town trying to find a YT12A-BS batter.

Online, I haven't had any luck.

Anybody know a good place for batteries for my Yager 200i?

:-)

General Discussion / Charging System?
« on: October 21, 2012, 05:20:04 AM »
I have a 2012 Yager.  I did not ride it for about three or 4 weeks and the battery died.

I took the battery in to be tested and they said it just needed a chage.  So I bought a charger and charged it fully.  Didn't ride the bike for a week and the battery wasn't strong enough to start the bike.

I had plenty of juice for the lights and display, just not enough to crank.

So, I'm wondering if there is a charging system on my Yager and if so, how do I test it.

What do you think?

Dave
