When ever you change your belt, how does everyone go about torque on the nuts? Guessometer or torque wrench?  Hoping for guessometer lol, i hate torque settings.  ::)

I use a variator holding tool and 1/2" HF torque wrench to 40 ft/lbs plus and extra click or two. I only replaced mine after 1500 miles to have a spare in my storage compartment that I should be able to replace roadside.

I've ALWAYS used impact wrench, 3/8 electric never stripped a variator nut out had one come loose.
2002 Kymco B&W 300; MRP 78MM "300CC", Naraku cam, Yoshimura rS3 exhaust, 17g Sliders, Yellow torque spring drilled airbox, stock carb #115 main #40 pj.

I've ALWAYS used impact wrench, 3/8 electric never stripped a variator nut out had one come loose.

I dont have an impact wrench but after removing my variator twice already, I feel the variator nut comes loose because some people tighten the pulley on the belt with out compressing the torque spring to ensure the belt is lose. An Impact wrench is on the to buy list though bettin, I agree its much easier and faster.

I use an impact wrench to remove the nuts but always use a torque wrench to tighten them.  I currently have 10,500 miles on the belt of my Super 8 150.  I will be changing the belt, rollers and sliding blocks soon.  I changed the original belt after only 7000 miles but that was way to soon.  It still looked like it was new and had no noticeable wear.

Applied Walmart SuperTech grease to clutch torque driver bearings and starter bendix.



I didn't see that we need to apply grease on my service manual, is it a must to do that? If so, I will need to do it as soon as possible.

If you're going off the dash that's kms not miles.

If you're going off the dash that's kms not miles.

The ODO on my Super 8 reads in miles, not kms.
