Side By Side / Fuel tank leak?
« on: April 18, 2018, 01:23:17 AM »
So today I pulled the UXV 450 out to get my zero turn out. Parked the 450 on my sidewalk coming from the shed. It’s a slight incline very slight not much at all. Well after mowing come back around and notice a wet spot right side directly under the fuel tank where you fill the tank. Cap was on an tight obviously. Wipped the wet spot yep it was gas. Any idea why the gas was leaking out or where from?

Anyone know of a good rear view mirror that works for the 450? I bought one from seizmik that I never could get mounted and adjusted properly so I could see out the rear of the vehicle. Anyone have one that works and provides good rearword visability???

Get a new base model 700i UXV in the color of your choosing. It has all the main features and upgrades that the other models in the lineup have. For 2018 the curved or rolled the a arms for better stability and ground clearance an handling. Finally put a true full size sport bucket seat in them. Changed the roll cage some. New high performance shocks. A base 700i is without question the Best Buy in the industry for what you get. Can always add the power steering kit later if you feel you need it. Get the 700i put a winch on roof and windshield of you choosing. And some doors. Oh and mirrors too! Kymco has a set of doors for them if you can find a set.  Now I say all that coming from a 450 uxv owner. I love my 450. But I have really been debating hard about trading in for a 700. The entire 2018 Kymco off road is vastly improved over prior years. Again getcha a base model 700i for msrp of 8999 and never look back!

Airshot I replaced mine with a super start powersports battery like this https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/extreme-power-sport-agm-5001/power-sports-16869/atv---motorcycle-accessories-16835/motorcycle---atv---pwc-batteries-17356/super-start-extreme-power-sport-agm-battery/etx16/4742669/2014/nissan/titan?q=Atv+battery from orielly. Not sure if that one there is the exact model I got or not. But it’s a very nice battery had over double the cold cranking amps of the stock battery. Fit right in there perf cr fit. Check them out.

Checked the vin on my 2015 and it’s in the recall. Guess I’ll have to contact the dealer. But this should only be an issue if you rode in or get into water when riding in freezing temps. And I’ve done nether this winter thankfully. Will definitely have it taken care of though.

This maybe old news. But I caught wind of it on the Facebook group Kymco mudders. I haven’t personally received anything in the mail about it. But I’ll check my vin to be sure.

FYI

http://www.kymcousa.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Press-Release_KYMCO-UXV450i_Recall-March-2016.pdf

Throttle cable recall on select year model 15-16 UXV 450. Throttle cable is apparently sticking in wide open position.

I thought Polaris only had recalls?!!! LOL

That’s all that matter then. I am glad you’re able to stay warm. I wish the Kymco had more cab options though. A poly enclosure would be nice. I’m not a fan of the hard enclosure from Kymco. Though I’m sure it works well. All in all nice setup airshot. I’ve really been eyeing these new 2018 model UXV’s. Love the hunter and prime additions.

Not a bad idea looks good. But I can’t imagine needing a heater in one with an enclosed cab. I would of thought with proper attire on an the cab enclosed the heat from the engine would do just fine. I think they’re fairly warm in the summer but tolerable.

Airshot do you have Kurt’s off-road body armor doors? Couldn’t remember if you do or not. Was just curious if you did if they have to come off with the soft cab?

I think either mount would be ok. I like the seizmik myself and I have dealt with their company and they are great people with good customer service. I have their mirrors on my 450. Good products. And that green 450 in the pic is sweeet wonder if that’s an 18 model??

Power steering in a 450i? I can steer my 450i with one hand in full diff lock, why would you need power steering?  Just curious here....I am 68 yrs old and have torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders and have found the 450i to be the easiest to steer of any UTV I have driven.   In your price comparison does the 700 come with a winch and the other bells and whistles that the deluxe 450 comes with?  I found the 700 to be much larger and bulky and only a few more HP, I prefer the more compact 450i as I can scoot around the atv trails much easier.....just my two cents worth

Easyyy airshot lol I am a 450 advocate!!! I'm just saying. For 10,399 a man could have a 700i LE EPS. They have rolled or curved a-arms now which vastly improves performance in ride an handling and over performance. Also has the winch wheels an tires as well as Kaifa gas resovior shocks (don't know how those compare to the elka stage ones on the 450 LE hunter though) only thing the 450 LE hunter has that the 700 LE EPS doesn't is roof windshield and rear panel.

All I'm saying is for some folks it will be a big and tough decision they have to make. I agree you don't need power steering on the 450. But reaching the price range of some of the upper model 450's it would of just sweetened the deal. Overall Kymco has done a great job revising the lineup. I mean 8999 for a base model 700 with all the features of the LE EPS minus the wheels an tires an winch and EPS is a dang bargain.

I was just about to start the same thread. The site does look much better now. I had heard earlier in the year about the changes coming to the UXV's. I like them. Lots of good options and upgrades across the entire line. The 450 LE hunter though I think at 10,300 or whatever it is, will be a tough sale when you can spend 600 more dollars and step up to the 700 and get power steering. I think it would of been a good idea to offer EPS on at least one or two of the 450's. And only one 500 model. I think about the only think missing is a full size 500 or 700 with a bench seat option. I think the base model 700 an 700 EPS will sell a lot. It will be a big decision whether to get a 450 or a base 700 at that base 700 price point. I like a bench seat personally but if I were to get a new unit I'd have to take a hard look at the base 700 or 700 EPS. All in all a great job updating the line by Kymco. So what's next a pure sport? 800cc or larger? I'd really like to see a bench seat though in a 500 or 700. Maybe that'd be a good spot for 500 since it's barely hanging around any how?
