Wordslinger,

I had no idea, of course.  I hope it all works out for you, so keep me posted.  I guess I would have figured some of this out had I deritricted it myself.  You still got a SWEET scooter though.

Best,

Scootermaven

That is why I stay with the softest springs I have for every day street riding. Using the firmer "race" springs will allow all that slipping. Ive even stretched the oem ones to the wiggle point when installed. My new malossi bell looked like that in a week. I traded springs/riding technique several years ago.
Now a Drag engine is a whole nother story...

That's funny. In the Picts. I kinda dig the "classic" yellow. Old school was my impression.

Crap!  How many miles or kilometers did you run like that?
Title: Re: ..improper derestriction 101...
Post by: wordslinger on April 16, 2012, 02:38:06 AM
...very few miles, bro.....but the scoot was revving nearly 10,000 rpms...an a50 wont do that, but you get th' picture??..

..de-restrict the boss!!...really...
Title: Re: ..improper derestriction 101...
Post by: OregonDad on April 16, 2012, 02:51:41 AM
Damn I did not know.  It has run less than 100km / 60 miles like that.  I guess I need to buy a new belt too.  Gates 729 17.5 30 ok?

Grounding the bike until I have a chance to open up the cvt.  Thursday at the earliest.

Post by: wordslinger on April 16, 2012, 02:57:35 AM
..your belt is most likely okay, ...my pics were from a high-revving 2-stroke...

..the a50 4t fires on only every other stroke, and thus is waaay more forgiving...

...and, just so everybody is aware, i linked this thread to oregondad...

..we were talking about derestricting cdi without the drive boss in the a50 board...

Ok, sorry for freaking out in two threads at once.  I think the only times he went WOT (which I have read is still limited to 9000rpm on the Agility 50) was practicing emergency stops for his test, and trying to get up that hill where it slows down to 15mph and he had to pull over.

..yrah, and 9000 is screAMING FOR AN A50!!!...lol...

Oregon, if thats a Gates Powerlink belt with sizes you say then i dont think it will fit. I got a powerlink last year that size and it was shorter than my stock belt so didnt work at all. To make matters worse i hadnt noticed and fitted it, only when i went for a test run i noticed it, sp the seller refused to refund me as it was "used". He was a total dick about it, the fact the belt did not match the dimensions given was of no interest to him at all.

I suggest you measure before fitting it to be sure its right. A difference of 5-6mm long can make all the difference to how it runs, or doesnt run  ???

You could try the 732x18.5x28. It is the size I used on the ZX but it is too short with a modified cvt, so I put it on the GY6, and it is perfect. It opens the Rear pulleys quicker but not enough to take it off.
