Replenished the USS Silverado & Owner's Report
« on: March 25, 2022, 10:55:21 PM »
Brought her into port for its monthly reprovisioning.
[/url]

This pump price does not reflect my actual price of $3.189 per gallon - with my grocery discount for last month.

My mileage improved to 16.1 MPG. Perhaps less idling the past 30 days - warmer temps?

Doing the math on the truck's life - I see that it is driven an average of @ 11 miles per day. Less than 350 miles per month over its 16 yrs. I forget what the "engine hours" is reading these days.

Itching to put some new spark plugs in it. Maybe find a trusted garage this spring?
Could use a coolant and trans change.

Gasoline in Mt Pleasant Iowa is 3.49 right now. Go 30 miles in any direction it is 3.89. There is no excuse for that by any measure other than greed.

Here in NW Ohio we are at 3.89 per gal at the cheaper places and a little over 4 bucks at the brand name stations. The further away from I-75 you get the lower the cost.  The local grocery chain with their fuel perks is always 20 - 30 cents higher than anyone else to begin with, so you better buy lots of high priced groceries to get their fuel cost in line with the others !!!

About 2 yrs ago, with my $1.00 off per gallon I paid about $8 to fill this truck with this much gas, at this pump!
Crazy...

Pretty solidly above $4 per gallon in Pugetopolis still.
https://www.gasbuddy.com/gasprices/washington/seattle.  Worse in my area. https://www.gasbuddy.com/gasprices/washington/shoreline.

MPG should be improving though since winter blend is working it's way out of the system this time of year.
Was interesting on my jaunt yesterday noting more drivers accelerating slowly, not racing to lights.  Even running slower on the freeway than has been the norm late.
Sadly, they're still surfing on their phones while driving, but ya can't have it all I guess.

You are right about people driving slower on the expressway system, however they are doing it in the left hand lane!!  We have a popular road that goes from 2 lane down to a single lane as you leave town.  There is a drag race there to be first, but then they slow to a snail's pace once in front!!!

After my previous $100 fill-up...I set the trip-odo to get an accurate look at this month's MPG's on the '06 Silverado 1500.
Yesterday I paid some $77 for a fill-up ....which worked out to 16 MPG.

I guess that's not too bad for a truck.

I routinely get 20-21 with my '02 Silverado 5.3v8 4wd, I get 17-18 towing my UXV450i on a home made trailer

On the other hand, My Tacoma 4.0v6 4wd only gets 14-15 and I haven't even tried towing yet

right now, my Silverado is in shop getting new rocker panels, service & annual state inspection, which reminds me to put another bug in my mechanic's ear, I didn't learn till it was too late, the shop I use is a little bit slow when it comes to body work

Dunno Stig, we consistently get 32-35 mpg out of the wife’s Range Rover?  Mind you we’re paying £1.89 per litre of diesel…

if it was gas stations further away from tank farms costing more, I'd get it
