General Discussion / Re: Is your Kymco made in China?
« on: June 04, 2014, 11:21:51 PM »
Yeah, thank you very much!
Can I ask how you know this? It is a respectful question ....this kind of information is hard for me to come by and is very interesting!. A little back-story is cool to know!
(I just wondered where our Kymco's were built ::)! ) I have not seen them all, but the ones I have stood next to seem to be impressively built.
Stig

I work with several dealers. I am friends with a few Kymco Area Managers.

I'll bite... Who are you, and where did you get the info in your post? I am asking respectfully, and not as a smart ass (i know right)

I work in marketing for several dealers. Some of whom sell the Kymco brand. I am also tight with my local dealer who sells Kaw, Yam, Suz, KTM & Kymco

All current Agility, Like and Super 8 models, for USA consumption, are assembled at the Kymco China Factory
The rest of the models are Taiwan built.
All of the ATV / UTV models are Taiwan built.

Interesting post as the Partsmonster dude was replying to a kymcopartsonline issue.
Anyhow, all Kymco dealers were notified in April/May 14 that there was an issue with parts supply from Kymco Taiwan.
They again notified dealers today, that this parts issue is resolved and orders are going out at 97%
Kymco USA has always had a parts order fill rate of 95% or better. Example, a dealer I know recently checked on a availability of a complete cylinder head including valves, springs, everything. Guess what, in stock at Kymco USA.
Sure there are issues from time to time on parts but from my experience with other OEM's (Triumph, Ducati) Kymco, by far, has them beat.
In 90% of all issues, the problem is with the dealer not Kymco USA

My .02 cents as i was formerly a dealer (not kymco)
A dealer has an invoice amount he pays for the scooter. included in the invoice is a destination fee or freight fee.
This fee is not figured into the profit margin for the dealer.
The dealer receives the bike, has the service or assembly dept uncrate, assemble, pre deliver the bike (a 25 plus point checklist).
They add fuel, service the battery and detail the bike. All this takes time, time that the service dept of the store charges to the cost of the unit. (Try uncrating and assembling a 300cc scooter someday and see how long it takes you)
Dealers need to charge a destination fee and set up fee. If not, they make little money on the deal. Some smaller shops do not charge ans they have very little overhead. Larger shops have to charge as they have large overhead in order to provide a, sometimes, better service to customers.
It's all about negotiation. But remember, the dealer need to stay in business. The profit margins are not as great as one would think.

General Discussion / Re: Kymco cash ?
« on: March 07, 2014, 05:06:19 AM »
The Customer Cash on a 2012 300cc model is $450.00
Note: There is no incentive on 2014 models.
2013 models are a dollar per cc
2012-2011 models are 1.5 x the cc
2010 models are 2x the cc. Therefore, a 2010 Xciting 500 has a $1000.00 customer cash rebate.
In all cases the dealer should deduct the kymco cash amount from msrp.
Kymco will not send you a check
You military discount will also apply
