People 150 Speedometer issue I'm Stumped
« on: September 09, 2022, 01:53:02 PM »
Just picked up a 2006 people 150 for 100 bucks.(4700 miles) Got it running great but speedometer doesn't work and odometer does. Disconnected cable from wheel and put cordless drill in reverse and speedo works smoothly. Screw on cable and nothing. Cable end is not broken and stuck in sensor. So what else? Bad Sensor?

the cable is spun by a gear where it attaches to the front wheel. I think it's plastic and its possible that it got chewed up? Pull it apart to take a look.

My $ is with Hawk. I think it's down there at the wheel...not in the dashboard.

@38a;
your instrument unit consists of several "gear-like" items (depends on model)(some have resistors), one of them, most probably its speedo-gear is misaligned or broken.
Remedy:
-carefully dismantling and align gears/sprockets again
-measure with multimeter
-replace the whole unit with a used one.
