General Discussion / "Tunnel Bag" for Flat Floorboards
« on: July 01, 2016, 05:57:18 PM »
I want to get a relatively narrow bag to place on the floorboard of my Like 200.  All of the bags I can see seem to be designed for the tunnels on maxi-scoots or their smaller brethren (PCX etc).  Anyone know of a good quality bag that I can place semi-permanently on the floor for more at-hand storage?

LIKE 200i / Iridium Spark Plug and...?
« on: June 22, 2016, 05:33:04 PM »
Hey all!  I'm getting ready to do the 300 mile valve check on my practically new Like 200i.  Finally have gotten up my courage and skill level (curves are still dicey on occasion) to take her out for 20-30 mile runs on 35 MPH back roads, so I put the last 90 miles on the odo pretty quickly.  So, I have a pretty good idea how to check the valves.  I'm also going to be changing out the gear oil per the factory recommendation.  I figure that while I'm under there, I might replace the spark plug (if it is worth it).  Thoughts on that?  Should I just ride out the factory plug until replacement time?  If I should replace the plug, what is the appropriate part number?

Also, is there anything else I need to have/do if I'm doing a valve check?  Will I need a new gasket for the cylinder head (I think that's the correct term)?

Technical | How To / Kymco Like 200i questions
« on: June 07, 2016, 11:51:35 PM »
Well, after puttering around for a whole, finally comfortable taking the Like up to about 30mph.  I have a few questions as to some things I'm experiencing.

First, once I get over about 20 I start hearing a whine/whistling..  It sounds like it might be coming from the transmission area.  Would this be the fan?  Is the whistling normal?

Second, after about twenty minutes of riding the seat starts to grow fairly warm.  Not hot, but it definitely feels like I'm on top of an engine :). Hot hot is normal?  Should I be worried about what I put under the seat to transport?

Thanks!

LIKE 200i / Parts Diagram
« on: May 10, 2016, 12:26:01 AM »
Well the previous owner of my Like didn't tighten all the bolts when he got it...so I'm missing one.  Trying to figure out the size.  Anyone have a parts diagram of the right side near what I think is the fan assembly?

LIKE 200i / What Socket Set?
« on: May 05, 2016, 05:21:05 PM »
New Like 200 owner here.  I need to know what the best socket set would be for this bike.  I don't use tools as much as I should, because I have been blessed with vehicles in generally good repair.  That being said, when I need to do something I like to have the right tools for the job, so my natural inclination has always been to buy the "big" sets of tools.  It is my intention to be able to tear down and rebuild just about anything that goes wrong mechanically for my bike.  Right now that simply means being able to change the oil and gear fluid, and being able to do a valve check in about 200 miles. So my question is this:  What socket set would have everything I need (and nothing I don't)?  I'm on a budget so Stanley tools will probably be my go-to.  I want a set that is all sockets/wrenches/extensions and nothing extra (already have screwdrivers, hex keys).  Do I need to buy one of the $50-60 sets or is there a socket set which will have all I need closer to $20?  I ask because, well, I just bought a scooter.  Money will be tight for the next couple of months as I get the tools, helmet, clothes, and cover that I need.

Thanks!

General Discussion / Newbie here. Tips appreciated!
« on: April 29, 2016, 10:59:23 PM »
Hey all, new scooter owner here.  I just bought a practically new Kymco Like 200i.  This is my first experience on two wheels.  I took the motorcycle safety course about five years ago and got my license.  I wasn't able to buy a  bike right away, and then I went back to school, and one thing after another, here I am, five years later with a bike and no experience.  I'll be taking another motorcycle safety course next weekend, but there aren't any scooter specific classes near me.

Any tips on how to best apply what I will "re"-learn next weekend?  I have a very small yard and I'm tooling around on that a bit, but I'm really nervous to go down the street.  How can I get more comfortable?
