Yager GT 200i / WON'T START
« on: May 06, 2012, 11:41:46 PM »
I've been under the weather for a while and unable to ride.  Last week my grand son was over and washed the bike.  So today I decided to take just a short ride against the docs orders.  Maybe it heard the doc because it would not start.  It's on a battery tender showing green.  Lights come on, gauges light up but nothing when I hit the starter.  The switch is on, the stand up, I even held the brake on, but nary a sound, completely dead.  It's just too much trouble to get it to a mech. or I would.  So what do I do first?

Technical | How To / GPS Mount on Yager
« on: March 14, 2012, 03:14:10 PM »
Hi guys, I'm looking for the best way to mount my Garmin Nuvi 250W on my Yager.  I did a search which led me in diff. directions.  I saw the mount that attached at the base of the mirror, and right know that is my current choice.  I have the suction base with a ball on but it won't stick on the bike.  If I knew what was under the plastic covering the handlebar, I could drill a hole or two and mount it there.  I know some of you have installed the nuvi on your scoot.  Now I'd like to get into your brains for some advise on what works best for you.

Yager GT 200i / Oil Service Indicator
« on: March 12, 2012, 12:18:48 AM »
Today while riding the service oil light came on.  My intentions are to change the oil every 1000 miles.  It has been about 350 miles since I last changed it.  I had checked it before starting out and it has not yet burned a drop.  But, it is the oil warning light so I stopped riding to check the dipstick, which of course was a waste of time.  I really do not need a light to come on to tell me when to change the oil.  Is there someway to disable it so that it will still come on if there is a real problem?

Technical | How To / Power to Handguards
« on: March 10, 2012, 12:35:24 AM »
I have The Acerbis Flash Hand Guards.  They really look neat on the scoot and are hi-vis for night or day riding.  They are internal battery powered.  I want to wire them so that they are powered on with the ignition.  I don't know if it is possible to run those little lights off of the scoot power.  If anybody can come up with a way to do it, I'd like to give it a try, but I have no idea how to change the 12V to the lesser power.

Thanks,
Richard L.

General Discussion / Modular Helmet
« on: February 20, 2012, 06:27:28 PM »
I am considering a new full face helmet.  The modulars look ok, Can anybody talk about your modular helmet.  I'm curious about weight, comfort, vision to the side, noise, heat, and any comments at all.  If you don't mind, tell me which model you have.  The $100 range is good for me.  I would like it to fit in my Yager met-in box.  The full face I have now, (bought it used, unknown brand) fits but tightly, laying on the side.  I use a balaclava but don't normally ride under 40*F.

Thanks,
Richard L.

General Discussion / It Happened Again
« on: January 29, 2012, 03:07:33 PM »
Police said a 25 year old man on a motorcycle tried to avoid a 2009 Toyota that pulled out of a Wawa on front of him.  The motorcyclist slid, hit the back of the car and a light pole.  He was pronounced dead a short time later.  This happened at 11:23 pm in the Port Richmond section of Phila.  If it is not a left turner, it's a car pulling out without seeing you.  I don't do too much big city driving where you are going along a row of parked cars, but if I see a driver in a car, I use the horn.  This car was coming out of a parking lot but I bet he was looking in front of his car, not into the traffic line he was entering.

General Discussion / Left Turner Almost Got Me
« on: January 13, 2012, 02:44:14 PM »
I was coming home after a short ride.  I was at a stop sign with a pickup going in the opposite direction.  He did not have a signal on and did not look like he was ready to turn.  He was sitting there talking to his passenger.  I started to move forward but hit the brakes hard when he started his left turn.  He was looking into his turn the way we would.  He only saw me when the passenger pointed to me.  It would have been about a 10 mph collision.  I'm sure he read my lips through the full face helmet, but could not hear me.  I guess that's why the left turners don't see us.  They are looking into the turn and not in front of them.    :o >:(

Yager GT 200i / Rear Brake Adjust
« on: December 31, 2011, 06:21:50 PM »
Lately my rear (left) brake handle has more and more travel.  Squeezing it I get now get too close the handlebar.  My brake fluid reservoir still appears to be full.  I think I need to do an adjustment or a bleed.  I have no idea how to do either.  Can anyone give me some advice?

Happy New Year,
Richard L.

Yager GT 200i / Acerbis Flash Hand Guard Installation Help Needed
« on: November 16, 2011, 09:47:35 PM »
With my arthritic fingers, I want more than gloves for the cold.  I bought the Acerbis Flash Hand Guards, which look really neat with the lights.  The guards are attached to the handlebar ends with expansion bolts that are approx. 3 inches long.  The plastic end piece must be removed in order to insert the expansion bolt.  The end is screwed into a plastic piece inside the handlebar, which is about half an inch deep into handlebar.  In order to install the expansion bolt I must remove the insert that holds the end screw.  Therein lies the problem.  Is there anyone out there who has removed this piece or who knows how to do it, or anyone who has successfully installed the Acerbis Flash Hand Guards?   ???

Thanks,
Richard L.

Yager GT 200i / Met-In Box Light
« on: November 11, 2011, 07:20:48 PM »
Dam*&^%$#@n that light.  My fault that I did not close the seat properly.  Worse is that I did not ride on Thursday.  Today the battery was dead.  Dam*&^%$#@n  again.  I had to use the car.  But it will not happen again, I disconnected the light today.  Why would I ever need it since I carry a flashlight?

Yager GT 200i / Yager Speedo

Has anyone used GPS to check the Yager speedometer?  I'd like to know how fast I really was going when it read 70 mph.

Yager GT 200i / Windshield
« on: October 03, 2011, 05:31:58 PM »
Our Yager windshield is just about useless, tho it does look good.  The weather is turning chilly and I'm starting to feel it.  My Joe Rocket armored jacket does a nice job right now and lowering my shield also helps a little.  But it is not yet really cold outside.  So I am hoping that someone has found the windshield that will give good protection including my hands.  I looked at the Kymco site but that was a waste of time.  All suggestions appreciated.  Thanks.

Technical | How To / Slow Leak
« on: September 27, 2011, 11:09:10 PM »
I have a slow air leak in my Yager 200 rear tire.  I have not verified it yet but I suspect the valve.  I have a spare valve center, I don't know the name.  I want to know if anyone thinks that a replacement valve center might correct the problem.  It seems like an easy fix, just unscrew the old and screw in the new.

Thanks in advance,
Richard L.
