Coil
« on: May 05, 2013, 12:46:48 AM »
Hi guys, if I use a 125cc coil from my GTI and then use it on my 300, would it affect performance of my 300? I'm thinking of a weaker spark delivery.

Regards

They're probably the same. Any given motor needs the same voltage to arc across the same spark gap.

Some CDI's want a different input resistance so the coil would be different. For instance a Ford usually
has a 300 ohm coil and a Chevy might have a 500 ohm. I would assume the coils for the vast majority
of scooters are the same. They have those high performance ones that are different so they generate
a higher output voltage.

Thanks alot Motorandy.
I check the parts catalouge and the 125 and 300 are two different coils. I ordered the correct coil for the 300. Hopefully that should get me over 130 kph. I hope this will solve my speed problem.

Just installed the 300cc coil. No difference in performance at all.

Well 130 KPH = 80 MPH so I think you already have full speed on your 300.
There are a few tricks you can do to the tranny to get a little more. The intake
and exhaust are probably tuned so you "fall off the pipe" and can't go any faster...
