Engine Swap
« on: November 14, 2015, 01:41:21 AM »
SO I saw the post from way back about swapping the Like 50 engine out and installing the 163cc engine from the Like 200 but as far as I know no one attempted it. I know the 200 has a 4 stroke while the 50 is a 2 stroke and also the 200 has 2 rear springs while the 50 only has 1 but I'm not sure if that would be an issue or not. I was just wondering if this would be possible and what the issues could possibly be. Also I see alot of fully built drop in performance engines for the GY6 and JOG and other motors does anyone offer anything like this for the SF10 engine that is in the Like 50?

Hey there pace, you could say anything is possible but it would take a pretty decent amount of engineering to get that swap working. Custom engine mounts, custom shock mounts. You'll also need to be good at wiring. Honestly all that work for what would be a less than safe like 200? You can get like 200s for less than $1500, if you don't already have a welder, good one, then your engine..... It'll cost way more than buying a like 200. The engine in your like 50 is the dabs as all other kymco 2t air cooled except zx50. Lots of good parts for it, people on here have had luck with 60+ mph. Get a good cylinder, with a matched pipe, malossi variator, and large dellorto carb 19+mm. Research, tune, tune, tune, blow up once or twice, tune ....... You get the idea. Fun tho.

Well my reason for thinking about it was to have more reliable performance out of the engine instead of having to upgrade the 50cc but keeping it classed as a 50cc moped.

Get a bbk carb and pipe then play with the transmision setup. Ull get great results. Read the forum some have posted their setup and you cam start from there.
Wouldnt swap... way to expensive and time consuming.

Well I am planning on a 19mm carb and a Silent pro exhaust then for tranny start with a red spring and some 8 gram Dr Pulley sliders and see what that gets me. The thing with putting a bbk on is this is my only form of transportation (I don't have a license) and while I do need a bit more performance out of it I need dependability more than anything else. Which is why I was thinking about doing a bigger engine instead of a bbk. While I won't be doing the work myself cept for small bolt on stuff I just know there's a better chance for things to go south when engines tart getting opened up even when its a scooter shop doing the work. But it seems that more than likely I will have to go that route sooner or later but I think I will start with the items I mentioned first that may get me where I want to be.

Go with sliders and deresteict first. Thats going to make the most out of less ;)
Then exhaust and rejet the oem
At last new carb and pod filter.
