People GT 300i / Crank case pressure
« on: September 18, 2016, 01:18:24 PM »
Hi all,

While changing oil this weekend, I notice that I have tremendous amount of Crank case pressure via Oil fill plug.  Can anyone verify this is normal?  Just start your scooter with oil fill plug open and tell me if there is any pressure coming out of it.  Thanks.

People GT 300i / Little GTI continues to impress
« on: June 06, 2016, 12:13:11 PM »
Got back from a 90 miles ride yesterday and I think the little engine is finally broken in.  55-60mpg for two up with 51L Trunk going 70-80mph is pretty darn good.  Think I toped 92-95 couple times on the down hill.  This scooter's power is unbelievable, just keeps giving and giving, mind you this is at 5800ft above sea level too.  Got about 3k on it now and boy is it sharp looking.  No head shake and steering is perfectly straight even at the speed I was going!  Get a lot of surprised looks when on highway with scooter, even compliments at the parking lot(never happens on my other scooter).

Now the grips:  People just do not like scooter in front of them.  Even if I was kept pace with the traffic and not hindering anyone and minding my own business, I could feel them following closer to me then with cars, as though they think I am taking up too much space ahead of them! lol, not to mention they pre judge at the light when I am first, they usually changed lanes behind me afraid that I was going to cause traffic jams or just have something to poof.  Worse of all is when turning!! they don't show the courtesy of tape the brake a little bit or give you room/time to slow down when turning, like they see all that space ahead of them and they just want to take it... can't tell you how many times they would just over take on the same lane as soon as they see me scoot over and signal to turn!, forces me to brake harder turn faster when I am making turns, sight.  Last but not least is in traffic, if I don't sit in the middle of the lane, they would inch ever so closely like they want to squeeze me out of my lane.  When I sit in traffic, I like to be a little closer to either side, because I don't want to be rear end and sandwich, not to mention get out of the way easier if need to be.  Little do they know, it's more of opposite for me, I see the gaps between cars when standstill and just wish I could split lanes to get upfront, like in Asia/Europe.

Cons:

wish the floorboard is bigger, barely could fit anything.

Refuel is such hassel too, compare to People250, have to pop the seat every time and it is in the center of the bike, so when I use fuel canister, it would spill unless with funnel.  Cracked my Tail light assembly due to gasoline spill not cleaned up!!  some how the gasoline had a chemical reaction with the plastic tail light assembly and you can see all the micro fracture at the corner of the tail light assembly, wish I have know this, now I am extra careful when using fuel canister.

They could of use aluminum rear grab bar instead of plastic, doesn't feel too secure with my 51L trunk loaded up, especially when I pushed it back as far I think is safe with factory steel bracket and 1/4 thick aluminum sheet as base mount.

I do get occasional stumble(miss) when the engine is cold and sometimes it would shut off at the light, but fires right back up though, not sure what cause this.

People GT 300i / caution
« on: January 22, 2016, 05:07:48 AM »
Word of Caution for those that do your own work.  DO NOT TURN THE KEY TO ON IF YOU UNPLUGED ANYTHING!  it will trip a check engine light which CAN'T be reset manually!!!!  I accidently unplugged tps and map doing some work and found out the hard way.  I've tried the trick in the manual to reset, I've googled it and no go,
Scooter runs fine, but miles per gallon is down the drain big time!!

I've recently acquired the Kymco FI diagnostic tool just to clear the error.  I though you can reset TPS/ISC via the tool, but I don't have that option, only thing I can adjust is CO....I am at factory 0 so I up it to +2 because I have K&N filter(more fuel), do I need to take it to dealer to update this tool to the latest firmware?  would they do it? I think the tool says 1.08a

People GT 300i / Another one?!
« on: January 21, 2016, 11:26:56 PM »
Passed a STI casually, didn't think nothing else.  Holy macro, speed up and pass me like I was standing still??!!  then red light ahead, looked at him, didn't look back(typical).  Light Turned green, we both gunned it and I held him off till around 30-40 I think, then he just shot pass me like I was standing still!! lol  must of hurt his feelings and think to him self scooter can't beat me! lol  of course it can't, but the fact that he needs to prove it with 2500cc turbo AWD to show off to a 300cc scooter makes me laugh.  I get more street races in my Kymco then my buell 1125cr(140hp), Eclipse(430whp) and my vr4(est 530whp)  COMBINED! lol or maybe they are racing me but I just don't feel it :P

People GT 300i / Things I've done, in the middle of and want to do
« on: November 19, 2015, 08:15:32 PM »
I thought I would share some of the stuff I've done to my GTI.  First off, I've replaced the stock voltage regulator with SHINDENGEN MOSFET type regulator.  I've bad experience where stock regulator went on my people 250 and took out wirings and battery with it, so this time I am Pro-active.  I am in the middle of finishing up LED lights all around with LED signal mirror from a Yamaha, waiting on LED flasher to stop the hyper flash.  I've also did a custom 5" k&N filter for not having to by anymore stock paper filter anymore.  I went with 15g Dr. pulley slider instead of replacing the whole face plate with different weights, because I believe the stock pulleys will be sufficient.  Also replacing the clutch and bell with upgrade together with rear movable face plate for more fun off the line.

For the future, adding brake pads when the time comes EBC Brakes SFA498HH, SFA388HH, I want lithium battery, GPR full exhaust and some kind of after market shock with rebound adjustments.  Looking for 400i engine to swap in :P (costly)

People GT 300i / LED lights
« on: October 31, 2015, 09:58:32 PM »
I've tried to do full led light swap over the weekend, headlight is H4 and no problem there, except the handlebar cover is a pain in the rear to pry apart.  Tailight, lol I've taken apart the seat/topcase/body panel and short of removing fuel tank before I realized that there is a little door at the bottom to access the rear tail light!!  would be nice if there is a pic in the service manual.  Anyway, I've ordered 1157 from e-bay and it doesn't fit!  I've looked at my stock bulb, but none of the numbers make sense, does anyone know what type of tail light bulb GT300i uses??!

People GT 300i / impressed, so impressed!!

I just got back from a 80 mile ride on my new GTI300 and one word described it, "WOW"  this could be the end all scooter!

Little back ground: I've own "Chinese scooter-150cc" put 10k on it before I sold it and it would top at around 50mph.  Second scooter is a used "kymco people 250" with 15k on it and is was a hoot at 74mph and maximum storage until it got stolen right out of my front door.  Then came the GTI300, I've read about it since it came out and thought it was awesome, but never look into it as it was out of my price range.  Also have a 09 Buell 1125CR(my baby), the one ride no body picks on at a red light!

My I mind you that I am at Denver Colorado, 5800ft/sea level.  I took it up I-70 Floyd hill at 5% grade and probably close to 10k above sea level with top case and it cruised beautifully!!  at 75mph full throttle and still climbing!! I had to back it off as I see there is no need to go even faster, lol.  Now if I can only do at least 70 two-up would be PERFECT!  I love the power, the weight, the powerful disk brakes and how smooth it runs with the step through and how nimble and small it felt.  My favorite view of the bike is the tail light, shines like a diamond glistering at a distance.  Suspension is a dream for scooters, no harsh bumpy ride, just smooth gliding.  Its the best scooter I've ridden to date, and I thought the only way I could get satisfaction is to get a T-max, ha, not anymore!!  Even had a Dodge diesel with 3 a-pillar gauges felt threaten enough to stomp on it when I pulled away effortlessly from the light!! that was fun! must be a story to tell his buddies lol, yeah you know, I took on the scooter today and beat it!!  with my almighty 6 cylinder turbo diesel and 6700cc, lol.

The bad:  Idles a little rough, not enough storage under seat, plastic covers all over the handle-bar, why the plastic cover on the tranny casing too??!,

I have a feeling I am going to ride a lot more on this baby then I ever will!  everything will remain stock except LED lights all around and maybe K&N filter when the time comes.  Oh yes and maybe this: http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/Almax-Immobiliser-Series-IV/Almax-Immobiliser-Series-IV--Uber--Squire-SS65CS-Lock__p-70-129.aspx

This scooter made me felt better after getting my people 250 stolen, I am glade I stayed with Kymco family. Loving it!

« on: October 21, 2015, 02:10:48 PM »
Hi all,
saddens me to say this, but my 2005 red people 250 was stolen 2 weeks ago right out of my own driveway  :'(  I have put 15000 wonderful miles on it and I am going to miss it.

reminder for all to lock it up when and where ever, I'll never make that mistake again.  We ride scooter for the convenience and too often thiefts thinks so too.
