General Discussion / Re: Greece has a run on the banking system

LOL... so I was going to write how cool it was that we can be both socially responsible (scooter riders) and politically involved, but then I came to page two of this discussion. People S 200 is a fine choice. When the Euro first came out, I think many of us in the USA thought we too would be sucked in sooner or later to the global currency. However, given that money is a construct, banks are in it for themselves, and only debt exists... I'll put my Monopoly money on sooner. Euro, Dollar, Yen... all make believe. My student loans... very real. It's odd really.

General Discussion / Gates Powerlink Drive Belt
« on: May 19, 2012, 08:04:51 AM »
Hello everyone. I decided to take various other Kymco owner's advice and upgraded a few parts. The one I am posting about is the PL30904 (894-23-28) Gates Powerlink Drive Belt. Having never seen one before, I was wondering if anyone could confirm that it looks like the pic below. I only wish to verify (or at least support) the manufacturer authenticity. My theory on early belt failure is that some are counterfeit. Thanks! Ryan

PS - 2004 Bet&Win 250cc - also adding Dr Pulley Sliders (19g), and Iriduim Spark plug (IX22B 5375). I decided to stay stock for air filter and exhaust as the beast already flies.

Very cool cite. Is it just me though or does the Kymco USA link/icon not work?

Ok... 2.5 years later, I am also having a difficult time finding an air filter for a 2004 Kymco Bet&Win. I found the Gates belt (PL30904) and Dr Pulley sliders (23x18 - I went with 19gm over the 21gm set), but no air filter (either stock or performance) and I haven't really even looked for a spark plug yet... so to reopen this topic. I tried the links. No currently useful. Other ideas? Thanks. Ryan

People 250 / Re: Drive belt replacement
« on: May 13, 2012, 03:31:12 AM »
Hello, all -

Sorry I am a little slow. Is the general consensus to stick with the OEM belt or replace with a Gates/Dayco? I'm much less worried about price and more concerned with a broken or stretched belt. Thanks.

Welcome, Dave. New myself. Doesn't look like we get a lot of traffic here.

I just bought a 2004 B&W 250cc. It's super awesome. Finding an aftermarket airfilter has been a little difficult, but the 250cc engine is used in several other vehicles - other newer Kymcos and some dune buggies. Parts should remain available for a long time. However, I haven't found the original manual to be very informative on things like belt size, roller weights, air filter intake, etc... but that's what Google and You Tube are for, I guess.

Good info, though not B&W specific. Consensus is sliders are better than rollers. I'm staying close to 20g (19-21 probably).
