Technical | How To / People s200 starts then dies
« on: October 11, 2015, 04:39:47 PM »
My People s200 is starting, then immediately dies.  It has a service light blinking and the number and shows 14788 on the odometer although it has less than 10000 miles on it.  I'm guessing that is some kind of service code, but I can't find it anywhere.  When it dies, the speedometer does it's little dance like I just turned the key on, so I'm guessing it's losing all power for a second then gettin g it back.

This is driving me nuts.  Does anyone know what this means?  I have the battery on charge right now, could it just need another battery?  So confused...

People s200 / top case?
« on: March 28, 2015, 02:09:06 AM »
I just checked with Shad and they claim they have no mounting hardware for the s200.  I loved the Shad I had on my People 150 back when and would love to put one on the 200 if possible.  Has anyone done this?  If I remember right, the mounting plate on the 150 was pretty generic, and was wondering if maybe this would work?  If I can't get a Shad, can anyone reccomend a case which will fit?  I checked the Givi website, and they don't list the s200 either...

People s200 / new to me People 200
« on: March 26, 2015, 02:41:05 AM »
I just bought a 2010 People 200.  I went to look at new scooters and they had this one used on the lot.  It has 8000 miles on the clock.  I paid probably too much, however I like it, so who cares, right?

So, I had a People 150 a couple years ago and have regretted trading it in.  The question is, now does the 200 compare with the 150 performance wise?  The motor isn't much bigger, so I'm thinking similar?  I just took it for a little spin around the block to make sure everything worked, and I don't pick it up until tomorrow morning.  Just curious.

Also, what should I be looking to do soon?  Belt and pullies maybe?  It has had an oil change and they threw on a new spark plug so, knowing Kymco quality, I should be pretty much ready to go, right?

LIKE 200i / Please compare the Like to my old People 150
« on: February 15, 2015, 07:26:22 PM »
Been a while since I've been on here!  I used to own a People 150 but traded it in on a new Bonniville about a year and a half ago.  Big mistake.  Not that I don't love my Bonnie because I do, but I miss my scooter! I should have traded in my KLR instead.  Well, live and learn I suppose.  I have decided this year it's time for a new scoot.  I looked at the Vespa Sprint, which is nice, but at twice the price of a Like (or more!) with less storage room, etc. it just doesn't seem worth it to me.

That said, besides the obvious wheel size, how does the Like compare to my old People 150?  Is it as dependable and easy to work on?  More foot room I hope?  Power wise?  I love the looks of the scoot and the apparant storage room, so sell me...

People 150 / Impressions
« on: June 21, 2012, 12:46:51 AM »
Just some impressions of this bike after owning it for a while.  I love it, for starters!

Pros: Real 75 mpg...bitchen!
Nice flat wide seat that's good for a couple hours (at least).
Enough power around town to get around trafic, and enough acceleration for sucessful lane splitting (legal here in Ca.)
Twist and go leaves nothing to think about.
Sixteen inch wheels means nice stability!  This is the only scooter I have ever ridden without hands...it's just that stable!
        More than adequate braking.

Cons: For a real big guy like me (230 lbs) real top speed is 60 mph...not quite enough to feel comfy going on the freeway.
Little wind protection (not a big deal for me, but some people may be a little disappointed).
Not much foot room.  My size 11s barely fit in there and both toe and heel touch.  That being said, I tend to ride with my toes
pointed out anyhow, so no biggie for me, but keep that in mind.

All in all, I have to say that in 35+ years of riding motorcycles, this has to be the best around town bike I have ever owned!  Anyone who commutes in the city like I do should quit thinking about it and just buy one!

People 150 / Shad case mounting (no, not THAT kind of mounting...)
« on: May 29, 2012, 07:18:31 PM »
I've been looking at a Shad top case for my scooter, and when I check for fitment it says that the People requires a small plate.  Every site says the plate comes with the case, but none seem to offer the small one as an option, nor does anyone have them for sale.  Has anyone got one of these and, if so, where did you get the correct mounting plate (or did you?).

Downtown 300 / touring?
« on: May 26, 2012, 03:45:48 PM »
Just curious, has anyone done any long term (2 weeks or so) on the D.T. 300?  I just picked up a People 150 and am hooked on the cvt and the gas sipping, and would love to get a touring rig that sipped gas almost as well.  So, is the 300 big enough or whould I save for the 500?  Thanks for the info!

People 150 / Pick it up tomorrow
« on: May 22, 2012, 04:12:45 AM »
I pick up my new People 150 tomorrow.  I sold my car a year ago because I wanted to simplify my life and it's been cool with the bicycle and public transport so far.  I have been getting frustrated with the inability to just take off on a whim.  So much so that I almost bought a car.  Then I remembered how much fun those old Baha'i Chetaks were and how little gas they used so I started researching scooters and found the Kymcos were about the best out there.

I decided on the People 150 due to the 16 inch wheels and the motor size.  I've been riding motorcycles my whole life (I'm 50 now so that would be about 40 years).  The bigger wheels were the only things I thought would make the old scooters better.  At least more stable.  I always felt like I was riding a bowling ball on the Baha'i where I never did on the old Honda 70 scooters.

The 150 seems the perfect size for me as I won't be doing much freeway riding.  I am a big dude at 230 pounds so anything smaller is pretty much out of the question.

Now Colorado don't mean much to me but I have to say I pucker out.  The only Colorado on the lot (acctually they only had one available) was the black and cream.  What a nice looking ride!

Well I'll shut up now.  I have to say from everything I've read I'm looking forward to a lot of years of scootering!
