I am being ripped off for $288 a year on my GT. I called around and this is the cheapest I could find. One place quoted me $55 a month just for my freakin scoot. Yes folks that's what I said.....$55 a month! I'm still looking for better rates. Looks like I'm going to call Geico.

Good luck and ride safe, mscmkr

I just called Geico and they quoted me more than I'm paying now. They said it's because of the amount of CC's my bike has. Interesting how they said it didn't matter that it was only 298cc and not 300cc. Every other place I talked to told me anything 300cc and over is more expensive. They also said 300cc is about as big an engine as you can get on a scooter. I love insurance companies.

Am I assuming too much to think that those who are paying under $100.00 per year, is for liability only? I tried to purchase Geico or one of those others online. It did not give me option for comp and collision. I carry high liability limits on everything because I am paranoid about being sued over an accident.

If you can afford it I would suggest getting full -- and I do mean FULL, everything. As a scooter rider we'll always get the worst of it in any accident. Having just been in one myself 2 months ago I'm so glad that I had full insurance. It's more than about recovery cost and repairs for your scooter. If you have serious medical needs and the other guy is underinsured having the coverage on your side makes a big difference.

I'm still in the process of recovering from my injuries from a cager who pulled a dreaded left hand turn in front of my bike. 8 weeks later and I'm still sore from fracture ribs, fracture cartilage in my neck and a lacerated lip.

Get as much as you can.

I have a 2012 GTI300. I live in Syracuse, NY. I'm 71 years old. My Geico policy with $100,000/300.000 bodily injury(including spouse), $50,000 property liability, $25,000 optional basic loss, $50,000/100,000 Supplementary uninsured, $250.00 deductible on comp and collision. My premium was $173.0 for the full year. I could possibly pay less if I attended a motorcycle safety course.

I'd listen to Lido and Scooter wolf.
Not paranoid just a good understanding of how the world works. Saved pennies now could cost you everything later. As I said before cover your ass.

Hi, new forum member here.  I live in Northern California in a big city.  I just got a 2013 Like200i with 850 miles on it and am flipping a Chinese 150cc gy6 (hopefully today!)

Geico talked me into upping my insurance from liability only to comp/collision when I called about the new scooter.  I went up to 300k/600k all coverage and $100 deductible plus towing!
$183 a year for both scooters or $132 for just the Kymco when I sell the other scooter.   I consider that pretty decent for way better coverage than my cars and piece of mind.  No safety course in my record but I am a safe driver with no violations or accidents in 25 years.

I also got a decent quote for AAA insurance but this was better.  Shop around and good luck!

Reading these replies, makes me wonder if I should up my insurance to a full coverage vs my liability. Like i previously mentioned, I only pay around $75-80 for the year.

I'm still young(24) and don't want any early year accidents ruining my life.

You guys suggest I call my insurance back and upgrade my coverage?

I have full collision on everything I own. I don't ride bikes or scoots to save money. I ride them for enjoyment. Being underinsured, in the long run, doesn't seem like a good idea. Besides the litigation issues, if I come out of the grocery store and find my bike stolen or run over, I will actually make money. Having a squeaky clean license helps with ins. premiums, and keeps me employed.

I went to visit my friend at a marina to see his boat when I first got the bike. The gravel was like 3 " deep and at one point the bike spun when I parking it. I was next to an expensive that may have cost a few thousand to fix a dent/scratch.

Good to have insurance.

If it were I would would up the coverage.
Even though you're young an at fault injury causing mistake could cost you.
They would have no problem attaching future earnings et al.

Pay a little now or a lot latter.
