Dragon Ride
« on: May 24, 2019, 11:51:47 AM »
Yesterday, Thursday, Xtown, 300i I rode the Tail of the Dragon for the third or 4th time and for probably the last time---while it is not technically hard....just a lot of curves, there are just too many idiots there, bikes and cars-----everybody thinks they are racer, driving /riding over their head.   At end when I stopped, even had an idiot in SUV yell at me because I didn't move over for him, because he had SUV----I explained if he had enough motor or handling to go around I would have been happy to let him by---TN plates/typical TN idiot!

Skill of riders can be judged in parking lot---GoldWing Riders falling all over themselves try to find parking spot joined by Harley Riders (the loudpipes, too), Trikes (probably Can AM being the only good design)----No scooters other than me.And of course some pulling trailers.  Probably lots of trailer bikers, too.

My mistake, even though weekday, pre-holiday, just too many people  there.

Want to ride it?  I suggest weekday, 4-5 AM and enjoy it,even on small displacement scooter.

for slower riders to move over and let the faster rider pass on the Dragon. Most people that frequent the Dragon know this.
A fast curvy ride is what the Dragon is all about.
Kinda like slow golfers letting faster golfers play through.

Only when you are slower.  I have ridden for 64 years, more than 40 outside of the US and am aware of protocol when others want to go faster.....but not for SUV drivers who cannot keep up!

With all due respect, your post does not make sense to me. If one is holding up traffic, the normal thing to do is let them pass when it is safe to do so.

Another tale of the tail which all sounds like a bad dream.
Grumpy idiots, tail-gaters, crowds, traffic, speeders, road rage, inexperienced, overconfident riders, boy racers & geriatric-boy-racers, and pavement which requires full concentration.
What a bad dream of a mix!
WHAT is the attraction? Curves?!
Buy some cones and hang out in church lots.

Yeah, Stig! The only curves I would like in relation to the Dragon are on younger women! I wish I could remember why! Har, har!

Not sure how anyone is going to slow on a 30 mph road, unless they raised it again and that doesn’t seem likely......
