General Discussion / Enjoy your Holidays
« on: December 08, 2014, 09:02:40 PM »
Hi Guys......As the winter season takes over I find myself coming to the forum less and less.  I just want to take a minute to wish all of my new friends a very safe, happy and healthy holiday.  Enjoy your friends...enjoy your family...enjoy your scoot if you can.  I hope Santa treats all of you well and if we don't talk soon....see ya in the spring.  Thanks for accepting me into your "lives".  Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year to you all.  (this absolutely includes you Mr. Zombie)

That sounds awesome.  We usually use hickory or cherry.  I like apple but's hard to come bye untreated.  That peach sound great.  I would imagine a nice mellow/light smoke.  enjoy your ride

Leaves are a blowing here in the Hudson Valley.  Making the best of it though...smoker going in the driveway with brisket, ribs, wings and potato's.  Game on in the background...some classic 40's music playing....cold beer, iced bourbon and a cheap cigar.  Wife and I love these "redneck" Sundays.  Would I rather be riding......maybe yes/ maybe no.  One thing I do know is that I would love to have some of you guys here to share some good food, drink and laughs.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend(s).  If you're riding..be safe.

ORRRR.....He could have ended up on a 50cc scooter.  Can't go after a guy for doing what he is paid/trained to do.  Most cops believe they are superhero's when they first start.  I believe that we all thought that when we first started something new.   Very few of us were "seasoned" starters.  Also...you need to take into consideration this guys recent past.  He was probably in a place where he trusted no one and everyone was there to hurt him.  He may also be taking out some stored up aggression.  This too shall pass.  For the exact reason that Zombie stated.  Community acceptance.  Do some of the "boys" remain idiots for their entire career?  Of course they do!  But these are the guys that usually get shuffled around a lot to take heat off of their superiors.   As far as the " judgment calls"  some are/some are not.  Believe it or not, the DUI's are an easier judgment call than the rest.

As for the jist of some of the other comments about donating time and goods,  I must say this.  And let me add that I am not a huge political fanatic in any way.  Donating our time, money etc....is a beautiful thing and I have no doubt that most of use who are active in this post do.  But why is it different if it is something offered for "free" by the government.  If they do it, it's them spending "our" money and only giving it to those who don't need it.  If we do it, everything is perfect and the system should be adjusted to fit that particular person or situation.

As far as the priest and kids story....don't get me started.  I investigated a horrible case of sexual abuse by a priest.  It cost seven young men in my small community their lives due to suicide.  Is he in prison....NO!.... He is now in a smaller church somewhere out west.

Also, I visited the Vatican a few years back while in Italy.  My description of it is basically a religious Disneyland.  Money, money, money.  Lines to get in.  Lines to get out.  Gift shops....Ugh!!!  You can actually pay someone to stand on line for you while waiting hours to get inside.  Is it beautiful?   Unbelievable.

I would assume that they are not wearing clothing that says "please don't stop me...I am traveling
to my job and this is all I can afford".  And I would also assume that not every one of the scooters stopped fit that scenario but if they did proper consideration might be given.   Also the cops don't know this until they actually stop them and speak to the rider.  I would bet that far more of them are trying to the cheat the law than make a living.....whether it's helping the environment or not.  Finally..............It would never hurt to pull up to one of the cops and make a friendly inquiry, noting that you are an avid scooterist.

Okay....Enough with the statistics.  We are doing nothing other than adding to the scare tactic.
Wanna hear something really scary.  TIME magazine chose the two youngest Kardashian/Jenner sisters as two of the top 25 influential teens.  Now that's the beginning of an epidemic.  First things first......if you want to stop the scare tactic....TURN OFF THE 24 HRS/DAY NEWS.  That brain washing is too much for anyone.  Next, Zombie starts to build an arc while the rest of us gather up all the beautiful people. (which probably means that all of us are not included)  We need to do this wisely.  Beauty is only skin deep.  I personally think that we should ask Oprah...she is an expert on everything.  We meet at Zombies' place for one last knock down drag out party.  We help him roll up and re-lube his new home and try to re-package it...just in case a non-beautiful person sneaks on board (or if it's after 2:00AM).  We then set sail for some tropical island in the Pacific.  We'll wait a few months until the smoke clears and then return home.  By then the world will be on to something new AND the 2015's should be available.   I don't want to make light of a very serious matter...but sometimes we need to.  And if anything good came out of this, at least it ended the NFL/ Ray Rice domestic violence coverage.  We need to start discussing our list of "beautiful people".

People GT 300i / At the local Fair
« on: August 17, 2014, 07:53:36 PM »
So my wife and I were at a county fair the other day and came upon a big trailer with a sign that read "Real live Zombie".  It was only five tickets to get in.  Finding it a coincidence that Zombie has been "missing" around the same time that these fairs are in town, I thought that maybe I would go inside and say "Hey Zombie....it's SgtShak" ....Then I decided not to blow his cover and just wait for him to return to the forum.  I was curious though.

Hope the build is going well.  Hurry back Pal, there's a beer waiting for you and it's getting warm!

Those are some nice rides.......BUT that breakfast sounds awesome.  Would have to make for a shorter/quicker ride home though!

I think the Tmax is an awesome machine.  I bought a Majesty years ago.  It was sitting right next to the Tmax.  I should have went for the Max.  It's a shame you can't get one in the states anymore.

It was an absolutely beautiful day in New York.  Just got back from a nice 4 hour ride.  Not a lot of traffic.  Amazing views.  Tons of bikes on the road of all shapes, sizes and types....All of them friendly and acknowledging one another.  No idiots to be found.  A great day.  Topped it off with a stop at a local restaurant/brewery that makes their own Lager and floats a handful of fresh blueberry's in it.  Life if Good  :D

Yes we can....that's why we're all here.  Someday I am going to test ride a Goldwing. (my local dealer has been trying to get me to ride one for a while now) But I refuse to so until I have enough money for the down payment because I know I will have own one.  Your report of 45MPG helps considerably!  Thanks a lot.

I think that was the point I was trying to make.  These 500's, 650's & 700's tour just fine. (as does my newly acquired 300) Continuing up to a possible 1000cc really just keeps prices going up.  A 650 Burgman is already close to $12,000. The others are close behind.  Add an aftermarket option or two and you have spend some major $$$.  Many of the cruiser motorcycles out there are in the 1800cc range.  I've been riding for a lot of years....I just don't understand the need for a motor that big when the smaller cc bikes do the same thing.  I dream of the idea of someday owning a Goldwing.  I just could never justify it when I can do basically the same thing on a 650 Burgman for half the price.  We have had three KYMCO's over the years and not a single problem with any of them.  I am a big fan of them.  I guess I just see them as more of a "typical" scooter company than a maxi-scooter company.  Not knocking them..but if I were going to spend $10,000 +/- on a maxi, I would stay Japanese or the BMW.    The 400 is not available around here.  That would be a nice size bike and about where I would make my cut off between a scooter and a Maxi-scooter.
