Title: Dumb roadcraft....
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on June 11, 2020, 11:48:16 AM
Took a detour this morning. ...not paying any mind to the fact that the rising sun was dead at my back.
Took some snaps...turned around. Geeeez, the sun was straight in my face!
Had to ride one-handed for 2 miles on a windy road ....to get sun back on my left shoulder.
Dumb.
Lesson learned. Need cloud cover next time

I have a small snap-on visor that does a surprisingly good job keeping sun out of my eyes, considering how small it is.  At speeds of 50+ it has a tendency to catch the wind and lift the helmet off you head.

If your helmet isn't too snug and you're traveling <40, a ball cap worn underneath blocks the sun well.

What? They do make helmets with flip down sun visor. I have one. A "Bilt" one with bluetooth too.

I have the flip down sunglass thing in my Nolan - NO help....the sun was dead on the pavement with every hill I crested.
And no safe shoulder to wait it out.

I'm something of a pro at riding a scooter into a sun rise - since I do it a couple 100 times a year.

Hey what is that "Military Grade" thingie that is supposed to cut out the glare?
Have you seen those T.V. Commercials? Damn my brain is drawing a blank on that one.
I'm with you that being blinded on the road is a bad thing for sure.
