Title: 2011 Downtown 300 is it C.A.R.B.
Post by: Ernst on October 01, 2017, 03:46:07 AM
I am looking to buy a 2011 300i Downtown that was registered in Montana and I am in California.
Would the Kymco Downtown 2011 be C.A.R.B. ( California )?

I'm pretty sure that all the U.S models are C.A.R.B approved. It's the cheaper Chinese models, that you have to worry about

Wow! What a coinkadink! Today I bought a 2011 Downtown 300i that is registered in Montana...and I'm in California, too. I immediately went to the Auto Club and the clerk said all I will need to do is get the VIN and engine numbers verified (by the Club) and there are no smog requirements because it's a motorcycle (well, duh). He didn't mention fuel tank vapor capture requirements. I assume that's what you are concerned about and now I am, too. It never crossed my mind.

All Kymco's in the USA are 50 state legal, they are all CA EPA/CARB approved.

That's strange stuo, even lawnmowers sold in CA. ONLY, have to be CARB approved

Follow up: I got it verified at the Autoclub, paid $148 in fees, surrendered the Montana plate, was issued a CAL plate and now await the title in the mail. It was almost fun....
