Oil changes after mods
« on: May 01, 2021, 02:23:41 PM »
Hey all,
Just finished upgrading my agility. New carb, lighter rollers, unrestricted clutch boss, and a racing cdi. Have a leo vince exhaust coming this week. Have 1100 miles on it. Have done one oil change before I added the mods. Mobil 1 10w 40, 4t racing synthetic. Now that I have modded the bike, how often should I change the oil for the most life out of it? Want this thing to last, and minimize excessive wear as much as I can. Thanks.

the typical recommendation of 600 - 1000 miles should be fine. Oil is cheap and our sumps are small so sooner is always better. I would also personally not spend the extra money on motorcycle specific oil. Scoots don't have a wet clutch that motorcycles have, thus no need for the oil without friction modifiers. A scooter motor is not much more than a souped up lawnmower engine. Synthetic is fine if you  prefer but motorcycle specific oil is not needed.
