Piaggio Liberty 150 S & non S

Looks like Piaggio is taking another stab at big wheel scoots.
Power spec looks pretty similar to the old People 150, & S 200, their noted top end of ~60mph is about right as well.
Only difference is the rear wheel's only 14", but you probably get a bit more space in the pet carrier in exchange for that.
Don't think I'll give up my HD for it, but I may go take a look.

It looks a LOT like my old People 150, except for the 14" rear wheel and a bit of more modern plastics. But otherwise, it's really close in looks and in performance specs. I really miss that big 16" wheel and smooth ride.

Just noticed that Dave put up a review for the Liberty.
http://www.justgottascoot.com/liberty150.htm

If it sells well i wonder if Kymco would respond with the new mid-range People 150/125.
They spec'd about the same as the Liberty; although probably wouldn't get 90+MPG, but also wouldn't want premium.

Of course last I heard nothing was selling well, but ya gotta dream a little sometimes.

Looked at the scooter this past weekend. It's nice! I think it would be a great alternative to the Piaggo Fly.

16 x 14 would seem reasonable to me, I guess.

...especially if they allowed a rim width to accept a fat rear tire, or taller/heavier sidewalls...

This is kind of a battle between the builder and the tire manufacturers over control of ride quality, and handling.
The superbikes with smaller front tires at great expense might be a good example of this.
