Grandvista 250 / rollers
« on: August 16, 2019, 10:18:19 AM »
Hi kids

I am thinking about replacing my belt and rollers on the old 06 GV used to you could find any Kymco part but now it's getting tough to find them online and the dealership thinks that it will take a couple of weeks to get the Kymco parts from their supplier.

How are you getting parts now?  I saw the report about the belt using a gates as a replacement I actually have one we got several years ago as a spare.  I might use it anyhow.

General Discussion / Where is the AK550
« on: April 29, 2019, 01:05:52 AM »
What is going on in the scooter world?  I just got teed by a cager and need to replace my 2015 T Max, and have always thought that the AK550 was a better scooter however there is a glitch  It has to do with Kymco USA the won't bring in anything larger than a 300
So I took a look at Suzuki and the Bergman 650 is not in the USA this year either.
How about the Honda Silverwing? nope they only have the 289 Forza.
Yamaha?  Nothing over 299cc  What is going on I love my maxi scooter's and I love scooting but am seriously considering a cheaper motorcycle.

General Discussion / K 50 concept or reality?
« on: March 08, 2017, 08:26:35 AM »
Will the K50 be one of the scooters that Americans only get to hear about or will they make it to America the first year out?  The concept looks great but I still want to see Kymco score with this one.

Grandvista 250 / Rear Brake/ too fat?
« on: March 19, 2015, 07:22:29 PM »
Hi kids, A while ago I inherited my wifes old Grand Vista and after one trip with the rear brake barely working it was to the mechanic who replaced the master cylinder and bled the brakes new pads and then told me to seat them with some long stops at speed, which I did the second day of use in fact I may have over heated the dot 3 fluid since I pretty much had no brake just a useless lever but after cooling they seemed better.

Here it is months later and I am getting pretty frustrated with the rear brake it just isn't getting the job done it functions pretty normally but from any speed above 10 mph you can't squeeze it enough to lock the rear wheel the lever will touch the grip.

So is there a replacement brake disk( larger diameter)  or a way to mount a second set of calipers to the rear end.  I loved the brakes on the People 250S by the way.

And a note about Dot 3 fluid didn't this go out with the dinosaurs?  why not use Dot 4. both are virtually the same chemical with an additive to retard dry boiling by another 30 to 50 degrees c.

Grandvista 250 / Service manual
« on: March 08, 2015, 05:10:17 PM »
Hi guys and gals I am looking for a service manual not a parts or owners manual.  My source for manuals dried up last year when honda sent him a cease letter so can anyone direct me to a "free"  online manual I need to replace a speedometer cable probably the inner but that involves removing the instrument cluster and I would feel much better doing so with a manual handy.  Thanks in advance.  Jim.

General Discussion / Broken belt , spun welded bushing
« on: October 26, 2013, 12:17:23 PM »
Hey kids I need some quick advice,  there I was happily tooling along the interstate at 70 plus when my belt said adios! with the usual rubber smoke and dust it departed the usual way when we got it apart the rear pulley had to be purged of excess fragments but the real issue is when I went to remove the variator the backing plate won't move because the center bushing has seemingly welded it's self to the crank.

So far I have gently tapped on it with a pulley puller but to no avail, today I thought I might try adding some heat to expand the bushing along with the puller and see what pops.  If anyone has some contrary advice now is the time.   And thanks    Jim
