People 50 / Re: Belt replacement - Gates Part Number?

There is a bit of damage to the splines and the splining on the variator pulley moving around but I'm able to reinstall the pulley smoothly. I don't think it's unusable yet.

How much labor is involved with replacing the crank?

I'll take a pic tonight of the bare crankshaft.

I think I figured it out. Just called scooter therapy and had them measure how wide their derestricted boss is. It was nearly 39mm.

The new one should be here on Friday.

Belt is 17.4mm wide. Not too far off, but worn enough to cause a problem.

Here's the gap on the splined shaft. The left pulley on the variator is falling inward, wobbling around and contacting the starter bendix.

I'm wondering if my variator boss is wide enough. Micrometer shows 35.5mm. Any thoughts?

Could it be possible my de-restricted bushing isn't wide enough? When I slide it over the shaft, I'm able to see there's a gap of the shaft that's unsplined. I would assume the bushing should cover this....

Anyone have bushing measurements?

The belt width is worn down. I'll measure tonight.

It wore down so much, the forward left pulley has fallen inward on the shaft where there is no spline. At idle, this causes the pulley to fall inward and walk around. The pulley teeth are contacting the starter bendix at idle only.

I probably have way less than 100 miles on this belt.  Likely half that.

Can't suck much more than that. ...

I've got a standard Kymco/Bando 23100-keb7-9000 on the bike with about 100 miles on it. Derestricted. It needs to be replaced.

I'd like to replace it with a Gates Powerlink 729. Does anyone have the part number?

Thx,
Mike

Well that did it. Stock airbox back on with the restrictor out and 1 full screw turn on the air/fuel mix and it buries the needle to 50mph. My GPS app says 40mph though.

Still need to derestrict the exhaust too.

Thanks for all your help!

Are these things seriously that touchy? You can go 50 mph on a stock airbox?

I have this:

Ok....New main jet (85), new replacement Kymco belt, smooth variator boss.

I can't even twist the throttle over 1/4 before it bogs. Is it possible the exhaust still being restricted could be making it bog? Carb float bad?

The carb needs some tuning. Got anything to read?

Good idea. I'll get the 82-90 ordered. I'm guessing what Chachivoodoo lists here is what I need?

http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=3334.0

I'm going to order a belt too. I pulled the variator and clutch out. The belt only measures ~15.68mm and people are telling me to replace if it's not at least 17mm. Will a factory replacement be ok? Looks like this one has P/N 23100-KEB7-9000.

I cleaned the rollers while I was in there. They don't appear to be damaged or worn. Should I be replacing those?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Alright, sounds good. I've got the variator boss on order, I'll measure the belt today.

Where can I buy jets or a jet kit?

Does anyone have a procedure to follow?

Thanks for your response. No I haven't up-jetted. I thought the stock main jet was an 85, no?

Where is the best place to buy some jets?
