The continuation of sucking the fun out of riding.

Of course if it will hold itself up at a light these crippled legs would ride again !

I fail to see the point of an autonomous motorcycle. ABS yes. Self-balancing yes for amputees. Retractable side-stands for the same reason. But autonomous? Puleeze!

Nope.  Don't want that, traction control, active suspension, ABS, none of it.  There's not a computer made that could begin to compete with a human brain.  And isn't half the fun of riding "becoming one" with your machine?

Me, I'd want that extra couple of car lengths stopping ability with ABS when a car suddenly runs a light into my path!

I had a close call today. Car cut me off on a merge that I can only assume was unchecked. Ground was wet, I momentarily locked my rear wheel as I braked hard. I managed to get a honk out, but this fool just moved into my lane anyway. I definitely want ABS on my next ride because that was a scary moment and would have been a terrible place to go down (middle of a bridge).

Yes, I do want all the stuff, but still want to do the riding myself.
There's no human brain that can begin to keep track of all the details and respond as quickly as a microprocessor with the only job of keeping track of the rubber/asphalt relationship. The software that makes the decisions in the microprocessor is made by humans. Often, that and the 'processor/sensor speeds limit the capability of these systems.
I want to ride safely with all the things that technology can provide so I can enjoy the ride to the utmost. Yes, I like to ride quickly...

I believe in being able to control all aspects of driving or riding except panic stops or stops on wet or gravel surfaces. During those times, human reaction time is simply not fast enough in many situations. I want to be one with the machine. I do NOT want to be one with the ROAD or one with a barrier. I tried that before. I didn’t like it. [emoji23]
At that time I wouldn’t have minded a “your an idiot lane keeping system”.
It’s ALL fun as long as the machine is doing what we INTEND for it to do. It’s those times when others and nature don’t cooperate. Or frankly when WE’RE being IMPERFECT humans that technology comes in handy. With cars most of this technology can be turned off when we want to live on the wild side or adjusted so it allows just enough fun to enjoy the ride while kicking in when it’s obvious that we’re in danger. That’s the sweet spot in my opinion.

I wonder if I would actually utilize the full braking potential of ABS. It would be unnatural to just hit the brakes as hard as I can.

I never use horns when I should either, it's just not second nature.
