Stadium Yamaha has the best price on OEM parts I know of.

http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx (http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx)    That's my favorite store for OEM parts. I would look at the rollers/belt/contra, and clutch springs at the same time. I do mine once a year... need them or not. You may also find new clutch shoes are needed, as I doubt anyone has changed them. All those extras won't add up to 75 more bucks.

BELTS AND ROLLERS I'V HEARD OF BUT (CONTRAS--WHATS THAT)

Stands for contrast spring.  It is the large spring between the torque driver and clutch.

you can try sliders instead of rollers. I have not tryed yet but I here they are great.
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: zombie on May 02, 2010, 02:06:22 AM
Another good suggestion! If you don't want to get into the guts, you can ask for a quote to install a much better cvt set-up. That's the contra who-izts, and stuff. If you love it now You will be arrested for what you feel after tuning the cvt.

50 MPH IS THE TOP SPEED FOR THESE SCOOTERS WITH BOSS/DE-RESTRICT AS FAR AS I KNOW---OTHER THEN INTAKE/EXHAUST CHANGE I CAN NOT GET NO MORE SPEED---I THINK ONE OF YOU GUY TOLD ME THAT.
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: zombie on May 02, 2010, 03:27:52 PM
Tuning the cvt will get you to top end much quicker. You may even get some easy wheelies out of it. The idea is to get higher rpm's w/ lighter rollers, and delaying the time for the clutch to lock up. Even if you kept all the stock components, I would suggest changing them at least once a year as these are all parts that wear out w/ use.

I DON'T KNOW IF A SCOOTER CAN WHEELIE BUT I WILL LOOK INTO THE PARTS---IS THERE A CERTAIN KIT THAT HAS EVERYTHING THAT I NEED FOR THE CVT CHANGE.
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: zombie on May 02, 2010, 04:00:22 PM
Stadium can help you out there too. Just order a set of rollers/sliders (your choice), and ask for a clutch fly spring kit. I think I saw you have 7.5gr. now? w/ all else being stock the 7.5 sliders, and the clutch springs may be the ticket for you. I think I read that you didn't like the 7gr. as they revved too high fro you! The sliders are supposed to respond smoother, and the clutch will allow the engine to rev into the power band before trying to roll. It takes some getting used to but the difference is nite/day.

Post by: 0BARK4322 on May 02, 2010, 04:17:44 PM
NOT ME, MY CVT IS FULLY STOCK SO WHAYEVER STOCK IS I HAVE BUT I DO NOTICE THAT WHEN I TAKE OFF I TURN THE THROTTLE AT LEAST 1/4  BEFOR THE CVT GRAB TO TAKE OFF
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: zombie on May 02, 2010, 04:24:09 PM
The stock rollers are 8gr. so the 7's are good, the 6's are better. My opinion. I have to hit 1/2-3/4 throttle to lock up the clutch, but have gotten used to it. Lighter rollers/stiffer springs will increase the rpm's both overall, and at take off. If that is not what you want then just ask for all the OEM replacements, and you will be just as good as new.

From Dr. Pulley, "HiT Clutch" user manual:

2.
Powerful takeoff but
no riding comfort.
Engaged rev too high. Replace with softer clutch spring.
Actuation timing too early. Replace with harder pillow spring.
3.
Powerful takeoff but having
vibration at initial stage
Engaged rev too low. Replace with harder clutch spring.
Belt slippage** happened in the
front driving pulley. Replace with heavier roller.
Belt slippage happened in the rear
driven pulley. 4. Replace with harder torque spring.
Smooth takeoff but solid
engagement not obvious
Belt slippage happened in the
pulley. Replace with a new belt.
* It’s dangerous to actuate the throttle fully and suddenly when softer pillow spring and harder clutch spring are used at
the same time, as the vehicle might jump into the air abruptly to cause serious damage or injury.
** The belt slippage can happen in the pulley due to the solid engagement and less slippage with the clutch bell. The
abnormal surface temperature of pulley can be taken as checkpoint to see whether the belt slippage exists.

So apparently it IS possible to wheelie one.  :D

Over the past few weeks I have been loosing top end, and take off power. I started to foul plugs in 2-3 days. I figured it must be a loose jet so I pulled the carb/cleaned it w/ no obvious problem. On a hunch I pulled the freshly cleaned air filter, and A LA WA... In the air, almost on my a$$. I forgot how much it has on the bottom.

I'm pretty sure it is a section for tuning the cvt taken from a Dr. Pulley install guide.
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: Hoolander2 on May 03, 2010, 04:19:08 PM
Yep, that's what it is.  I just thought it was funny how they worded the part about jumping into the air!!!   ;D  You know, since you had wondered about wheelies.  Ha!

I emailed Dr. Pulley (actually it's called Unionmaterial.com)  a couple weeks ago inquiring about sliders and they sent me a lot of stuff about their sliders and clutches. Apparently you can still get sliders directly from them.  They offered me a deal for a HiT clutch for about $400.  They'd throw in a set of sliders for free.

That's not too bad of a deal! The Malossi Delta for your scoot is around 390. alone. If they throw in 40 bucks worth of sliders all the better.

Dual discs, and the frame is chromoly. The scoot was made for circuit racing. That may be why they stopped producing them. Price vs. cost

POLINI VARIATOR FOR THE KYMCO AGILITY 50CC 4T 95MM OUTSIDE DIA    Bottom right on the page. When you order the var, just ask for the applicable belt.  I'll look some more for a Complete kit. Measure your var to see what the OD is, and approx. how much room you have before Major Surgery.

..it fairly forgiving as far as needing to be cleaned...

..yeah, what shaka said...

..it's a performance enhancment, but you must up-size yor carb's main jet and also adjust your idle mix, via the idle mix adjusting screw on your carburetor.......
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: zombie on May 07, 2010, 06:36:08 AM
Go for it! It is just a scoot. The hotter the spark you can get the more fuel you can burn. The more fuel= the more air you need. Get a good coil, and then get an air filter/jets. The coil should not cost more than $20.00 delivered. CAN THAT BE PUT ON A STOCK SET-UP (NO JET OR BIG CARB KIT)  NO!
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: 0BARK4322 on May 07, 2010, 08:09:30 AM
THAT SOUNDS GREAT BUT MAN I TRYING TO STAY AWAY FROM THE CARBS, I DON'T WANT IT TO START ACTING UP LIKE I HERE SOME GUY DO, I WAS WONDERING IF THE AIR SCREW IS THE SAME AS THE IDLE ADJUSTMENT
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: zombie on May 07, 2010, 06:46:36 PM
The idle mixture adjusting screw is some times called an air screw. You turn it either way in 1/4 turn increments. You want to get the best/highest rpm's on the adjustment. Once you get it to its peak, turn it 1/4 turn counter clockwise. that will be the final setting. you can then use the idle speed screw to get the idle rpm's where you need them. Always have a clean air filter before adjusting the mix.
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: 0BARK4322 on May 07, 2010, 11:39:55 PM
NO I'M LOOKING TO INCREASE MY IDLE TO 1800-2000 RPM AND ALSO WHY PEAK IT THEN TURN IT 1/4 WAY COUNTER CLOCKWISE
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: Shaka on May 08, 2010, 12:06:46 AM
You turn it back to be on the safe side.  That 1/4 turn makes it slightly richer.  At peak rpm with the mix screw you are actually a little lean.
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: 0BARK4322 on May 08, 2010, 01:26:26 AM
OK, GREAT----I WILL ORDER THE VARAITOR KIT,BELT,KN FILTER,SPARK AND SHOULD I CHANGE JUST THE MAIN JET TO 95, I THINK I HAVE A 92 STOCK.
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: zombie on May 08, 2010, 03:17:22 AM
You might wan to get a KIT of jets. Say 95-106. There is no real way to predict what you may need. $20.00 on jets is not too bad, and it is always better to be safe than LEAN.

OBARK, you asked if the air screw is the same as the idle adjustment.  NO.  These guys are referring to the Idle air mixture screw, not the Idle speed screw.  They are 2 different screws.

OBARK, the idle speed screw is not the "barrel adjuster" up on the throttle.  I think you may be referring to that.  That is to take the free play out of the throttle.  The idle speed screw is usually the larger center screw on the carb.  It sticks into the carb right in the middle where the slide is.  It actually sets how far the slide can close or move down.  The idle mixture screw will be smaller and on the downstream side of the idle speed screw.  A good starting point for both screws is typically 1.5-2 turns out.  First set the idle speed, then fine tune for max rpm with the mix screw.  Then turn the mix screw 1/8 turn back out to richen it a tad more.  You may then have to re-adjust the idle speed screw to lower the rpm's back down to where the wheel doesn't turn on the center stand.  Once the carb is set you can check the throttle grip for free play and adjust it with the barrel adjusted on the handle bar.  The service manual will state the free play.  It's usually about 2mm.

DO YOU THINK I CAN ADD  A K&N FILTER AND(SET THE IDLE MIXTURE SCREW TO A RICHER SETTING (FOR MORE FUEL)AND NOT HAVE TO CHANGE THE MAIN JET--HAVE YOU TRIED IT BEFORE
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP
Post by: Shaka on May 09, 2010, 12:44:46 AM
The air screw only effects the idle circuit, so no.  You will have to change your main jet if you put on a K&N.

Here's your carb pic with the screws labeled.  I've heard decent things about the Jasil Variator, but I've never actually used one.  It does look nice though!  Moped Hospital has also been pretty good to deal with.  Steve is extremely knowledgeable.  Be aware that they will push their products over the Malossi, but I that's because that is what they sell.  Remember you get what you pay for.  They compare it to the Malossi, but I'm sure there is a reason for that! ;)

It definitely does free up a lot of room!  I don't actually have that air filter set-up now.  Now I have a big intake manifold and a snorkel on the air filter.  The carb now sits back closer to the rear shock, and the air filter is extended back and to the outside of the shock.

Next is to change out the variator boss. You can buy 1 for about $30.00, or have yours machined off for around 10 bucks. http://webservices.motorsportdealers.com/parts/partImages/KYM/2/03/13/0013.Gif (http://webservices.motorsportdealers.com/parts/partImages/KYM/2/03/13/0013.Gif)   Part # 22105 is the bit too change. This photo shows the wrong pict of your part. Yours has a collar on the base that has to be cut flush w/ the rest.

..because in my state, when you get a dwi, you can still operate a less than 50 cc 2-wheeled vehicle without a driver license...

..it kinda grew from that point, to where i am now...

..i can get a license, but...so far, i haven't needed one...

..not to mention the $250 a month insurance....

..don't need that......

Hey just a thought here about 2t oil,I ran blendsall in my dirt bikes years ago It performed great, but when it came time to teardown left kind of a sticky residue an everything,I was a honda guy and ran yamalube in everything from then on burns quit a bit cleaner. No yamaha shop close so running motul full synthetic now. Don't know how good it is yet.

Thats the hype less friction less heat longer lasting motor.I'll have to dig out the crank of the vespa I'm working on to show what just any old oil can do It's was so frozen I broke the cylinder getting it out.

..it could be....a mind thingy, i reckon...

..all i know is that these lil engines work really hard...

Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP/ UPGRADE
Post by: zombie on June 15, 2010, 04:36:11 AM
I use ONLY synthetics in EVERY engine I own. IT WORKS BETTER! The only failure I have had is due to using "stock brand" 2t oil, and I burned a hole in my piston dome. I use Golden Spectro 2t. These oils leave less carbon, and allow the engine to run cooler (few degrees) so they do make a difference. ANYONE that says otherwise is just WRONG!
Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP/ UPGRADE

WELL I GUESS THEY BOTH WORK BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN CARS GO FOR TEN YEARS(FATHER) I NEVER USE SYN OIL AND NO PROBLEM AND OF COURSE THERE PROBABLY WAS A TIME WHEN THERE WAS NO SYN OIL ANYWAY----BUT I GUEST IT BETTER BUT NOT MANDATORY

Title: Re: TIME FOR A BASIC TUNE-UP/ UPGRADE

..yes, from the positive batt termnal..thru an inline fuse (Advance Auto also)..then through a switch so you can turn them on or off (Advance Auto)...to the Positive led's leads...from their negative leads, connect a wire to the batts negative terminal..

..LED lighting takes very small amounts of current...

..depending on how many you use, a 1/5 - 1 amp fuse will be enough...

..it's easy, and you don't have to worry about screwing up any of your scoots other wiring...

..you can also light them when the scoot isn't running...
